Chapter 3
Belle
Adam and I knocked slowly on the door of Professor Porter's office. Suddenly the small steel door shifted to a giant wooden archway. We walked slowly through the opening and up the spiral staircase.
Hanging on the wall were pictures of the originals. They started Hogwarts many years ago. There was Phillip Grfyindor, Rapunzel Hufflepuff, Anastsia Slytherin, and Kida Ravenclaw. Each founded the school, each from a different house.
"Welcome!" Professor said as he looked out the window, "take a cookie!" A floating plate appeared at our noses. Adam attacked the fine china. I glared at him as I walked closer to Professor.
"How was your summer, Belle?" He asked sitting at his desk, "How was England?"
"Fantastic, I learned a lot!" He smiled wide. I was one of his most perspective students.
"May I be frank?" He asked looking at us. I nodded slowly.
"Sure," Adam mumbled through the cookies.
"You two are my favorite students, I truly delight the company of both of you. But I'm scared. These games change people..." I reached for Adam's hand and squeezed it.
"I'll be fine, Professor!" He mumbled.
"Worry about her," he pointed at me.
"Why?" I whispered.
"Because of your brother..." My eyes grew wide. My brother died in the Triwizard Tournament when I was very young. I never told Adam about him...I never talked about him...his name was Fillip. "It was tragic what happened to him. He was a sweet kid, you know. Shame he and I spent so much time to together and you so little..."
"Well..." I hummed.
"I know you can't avoid if the goblet picks you, just prepare. You're both very intelligent students. Read, know your stuff. Go into the events prepared so it'll be a piece of cake!" I nodded and turned to Adam. He was looking at the ground. He must've been upset I didn't tell him about Fillip.
"Thank you, Professor," I said as the short man hugged me.
"Take care of my Belle," he said to Adam. Adam nodded slightly giving a half smile, "Now, turn in. You two need your rest for class tomorrow." He clapped his hands and followed us to the stairs.
"Adam," I whispered as we reached the now steel door.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked adjusting his tie.
"I never talked about him to anyone! Fillip sort of escaped my mind. I was only two when he died," I grabbed his hand.
"I thought you told me everything."
"Adam, please, I love you," I said leaning in for a kiss. He kissed my forehead instead, leaving me now disappointed.
"I'm gonna go for a walk, go to sleep," he said slowly. Releasing my hand, he walked toward the Hufflepuff common room. I just pushed the man I love away because of one little word. Fillip.
