"Are you sure about that?" Isabella asked from her table eying the guy who stood to lean on the wall beside him and stared intently at her, maintaining the serious expression on his face.
"Yes, I am sure." He said getting off the wall and taking steps towards her. He came near her table and sat on the chair. "The finances are continuously decreasing. If we didn't do anything about it soon, the time isn't far when we have to sell the company."
"Okay... give me the report, I'll show it to Mr. Lawrence." She placed her hand forward and the file was placed in her hand.
"Yeah, do it but I hardly think that bastard will do anything about it." The curse tolled out of his tongue and Isabella fumed.
"That's not the case." She tried to defend her boyfriend and he laughed.
"Oh come on. All that man cares about is his slutty girlfriend." He shrugged and for a moment Isabella fell in silence.
"Vanessa is his ex-girlfriend." She furrowed her brows and his eyes narrowed.
"Yeah, the ex-girlfriend who visits him almost every day and doesn't leave for hours?" He questioned and her mouth shut, she did love him but even she couldn't deny the fact that they spent less time as compared to he spent with Vanessa but there was nothing she could do about it, "Why are you defending him anyway?"
"No reason." She wasn't ready to disclose her relationship with her boss yet.
"Whatever, give this report to him." He handed her the file and continued, "Though I am sure all he will do is keep them aside and never have a look at it until his father comes barging in."
It wasn't a surprise Justin- the accountant- hated him. Almost every employee did. Alexander Lawrence was a person who never did his work properly. He was never interested in giving bonuses to his employees and often delayed in giving the salaries. Not that it was his fault. He was forced into a profession he never wanted in the first place.
"I'll give it to him." She avoided talking to him about her boyfriend. "Bye, Justin."
"Yeah, bye." He got up from the chair and moved towards the door, he twisted the knob then turned back, "Meet me at lunch?"
"Sure." She smiled and he grinned back.
She looked at the file in her hands and sighed moving towards her boss's cabin. She knocked but no voice came. Shuffling noises were heard and after almost ten minutes a come in was heard.
She entered inside and her mouth fell open. There was his boyfriend, his face all red, his hair ruffled up and the first few buttons of his shirt undone. Nothing was different in the case of the brunette standing a few steps away from him. Vanessa Carol stood with her dress wrinkled and her lipstick smudged.
"Uh... Justin had given this file for you, it's important, have a look at it." With this, she dashed out. He cursed out seeing her so, at the verge of crying. His heart ached after hurt her but he always calmed down reminding himself that she chose this. And he wasn't wrong.
Running out of his cabin she bolted inside the washroom and closed the door behind her. This wasn't the first time she witnessed something like this and she broke into a fit of sobs.
She opened the tap and water started cascading down. She splashed the water on her face and leaned down on the basin keeping her hands at either side.
With every tear falling down she regretted the moment she fell in love with this man and most importantly she regretted when she signed herself up for this open relationship.
