Back in 2005 I was 5. I was a t home with my parents and they had just tucked me into bed. It was only 8:00 p.m., my bedtime.
That's when I heard my mother scream. And then a thump. I was scared. I ran down the stairs only to find my mom and dad laying in a pool of their own blood.
I was screaming for anyone. But I'm an only child I was alone. Then I saw her. She was around my age. She had chin length red hair. Emerald eyes and lots of freckles. Is it wrong to be in love at age 5?
That's when I saw the blood on her hands. My parents blood. God. What had this child done?
I'm not the kind of person to usually hold grudges but, if you kill my only family, then we might have some problems. But still. We were natural friends.
At the age of 6, we both joined the same foster home. It was a accident. Probably. Anyways. I remembered right away.
I was like,"Hey. You are the girl who killed my family!! Wanna go get icecream?"
We gradually became better friends. We had a lot in common. So one-day we went outside for recess. I saw the other kids pushing her around. And I stuck up for her. After that we were deemed best friends.
I thought that would be the end. Next year we would separate. I would go to a different class and she too. But she didn't.
Every year we had the same teacher, joined the same clubs, and did a lot together. Naturally. People thought we were dating.
No. But we've always been friends. And we've always been in the same foster house.
No-one else knows our secret. And I'd like to keep it that way. If everybody found out. She would be taken away. From me. I couldn't let that happen. I won't. I will protect her with my life. Whether she knows it or not.
