"Don't go! Why can't they deal with their own problems?" Alfred complained over to his father and his mother, getting ready to leave.

"There is no other choice Alfred.. Mellos and Freland are the brick of war." His father explained, patting his and Matthew's head. "We'll end up a part of it either way but worse.."

"Everything will be fine alright?" He reassured as their mother walked over and kissed both their heads. "You boys take care of each other alright?"

Matthew nodded and smiled. "We will.. And I'll keep Alfred out of trouble again."

Their parents laughed as Alfred huffed. "Hey!" He pulled his brother into a choke hold and rubbed his hair before releasing him again. "You're lucky I love ya bro!" He grinned.

Matthew rubbed the back of his back and chuckled softly. "I love you too Al.. We will be okay Mama.." Their mother had a bright smile on her face and hugged them both. "We will only be gone for a few weeks." Their father explained and gave his sons a hug before getting into the carriage with their mother. A servant closed the door and stood by the young princes as they waved to their parents, leaving the property. The boys didn't stop until the carriage was out of sight.

Alfred sighed. "I hope they come back soon.." Matthew just nodded as a response as he wiped his tears. He was more the cry baby between the two. The eldest grabbed his hand and smiled.

"We'll be fine. We're old enough to be without them for at least a week right?" Matthew sniffled and smiled before nodding his head. "Yeah.. You're right Al.."

"Come on! Lets go play with Kiku." He didn't give his brother to respond and headed into the kitchen with the royal chef, known as Yao, to play with his son.

Time skip to 2 weeks later.

It was a normal lovely evening as the young princes were playing around the throne room, paying no attention to no one else than each other but they stopped running when the head butler came in and called them both over.

Toris watched as the boys made their way to him. "B..Boys.. You need to p-prepare yourselves on what I'm about to say.." The boys tensed up and gave the older male and confused look. They looked at each other and back at Toris, who was fighting to break down crying.

"What's wrong Tori?" Alfred asked. "Did Mom and Dad return!?" He asked with a smiled on his face.

Toris shook his head. "No Alfred.. They.. They won't be coming back.."

"...What do you mean? They said they'll be back.. Why are they coming back?!" Alfred started to get scared, grabbing Matthew's hand and gave it a squeeze.

"Are they staying in Mellos longer? Is that what you mean Toris?" Matthew askew softly, thinking that their parents are just fine and just staying to be safe but was returned with another shook as an answer.

"They were on their way back from Mellos but was caught in a storm.. A tree crashed down in front of them and caused the carriage to crash down the hill.." The Lithuanian explained but stayed calm just for them both.

The boys looked at the male in horror as tears came down on both of their faces. "They can't be! You're lying! What about the kingdom?" Alfred cried.

"It is early.. Way too early but you are to be crowned King of Deiwin.. Even at your age, with people to help you on your way to be a better king.." Toris said but knew that this was VERY upsetting for the twins.

"B-B-But Toris... The people won't accept a young k..king.. Will that okay for the kingdom?"  Matthew asked through his sobbing. He wiped his tears away but more kept coming. His parents has died, he only has Alfred and he didn't want lose him.

"I don't wanna be king yet! There are other things I wanna do!" Alfred was still crying and hugged Toris, who stroked his hair gently.

"Shhh.. I'm sure your parents weren't expecting this either Alfred but you have to be strong... For them. They would want you be be the King they would be proud of and protect this country.. You wanted to be a hero didn't you?"

Alfred nodded and wiped his tears away. "Y..Yeah.." He walked over and hugged Matthew. "We can't lose each other Mattie.. I don't want to lose you too.."

Matthew returned the hug and smiled. "Neither do I.. I know you will be a great king Alfred.." He said softly and pulled back from the hug.

Toris sniffled and wiped his own tears away, sighing. "Now.. Lets get you boys ready for the funeral in a few days.. The kingdom must be in grief about their death before we crown Alfred.." He explained. " Alfred.. you must be ready to be King for now on. Okay?" He grabbed both their hands and headed upstairs to their bedroom. "I'll be back. Don't leave the room alright?"

The boys nodded and watched Toris leave. Once the door closed, Matthew broke down crying his heart out as he hugged Alfred. "Why did it have to be them Alfred?.. Why?" He cried out in a low voice.

Alfred held his brother close as he cried as well. "I don't know Matt.. I don't know.."

The death of the King and Queen of Deiwin was announced around to the entire kingdom by nightfall.

The whole kingdom slept in grief.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The funeral was a tragedy, everyone in the kingdom loved the King and Queen so much and they were so young. They also felt pity to the young princes to be going through so much pressure acuter they deaths.
They had accepted Alfred to be crowned, even though he was only 14 years old.
Matthew couldn't spend time with Alfred, due to him being King. Alfred was always with the head guard and other guides to help him through. He wanted to spend more time with him and be there for him but couldn't find a solution till now.
"Toris.. Do you think I dpcan help around the castle? Like become a servant?" The young boy asked the Lithuanian.
Toris looked at Matthew with shock. "Why do you want to be a servant my prince, if you don't mind me asking?"
"I want be a servant to just Alfred.. Be his guide.. Be by his side.. C-Can I do that?.." Matthew replied quick and smiled.
Toris sighed and smiled back. "If that's the case.. I'll teach you Matthew.. I'm sure your parents would be so proud of you to be watching over your brother..." He put his hand on Matthew's shoulder.
Thus began Matthew's training to serve and obey orders from the King, who is now his brother, and only the King. Matthew didn't want anything to happen to his older brother, knowing how Alfred has been there for him..
Now it is his turn to return the favor.
