Ch.7 Tainted Memories

2 days later Kagura was finally allowed to leave the hospital. All her injuries had healed (most likely as a result of being a Yato) and she was currently resting at the Yorozuya. She was lying down on the couch, chewing her sukonbu while shinpachi did his usual house cleaning and Gintoki was lazily reading his jump and simultaneously picking his nose.
"I'm bored uh huh! Gin-chan, dont we have any jobs today?"
"Hmmm? Why do you wanna work so badly?" He flicked a booger on her.
"I had nothing to do except to eat at the hospital, and hospital food sucks, yes?"
"Well too bad, we dont have any customers," he replied. Just then the phone rang. Kagura dashed towards it and answered.
"Moshi moshi?"
"Ah, this is Yorozuya Gin-chan, right?"
"Yes"
"Im calling about my job request today, are you still coming out to help with my construction?"
Shinpachi and Gintoki gulped at hearing the conversation. They knew what Kagura's response would be.
"Shit, this is bad. Oi Megane! Grab the phone off her!" Gintoki mentally said to shinpachi.
"Who are you calling Megane? And im not doing it, i dont wanna die!"
"You think i wanna die u glasses stand?!"
Shinpachi's eye twitched.
They were too busy sending mental messages to each other, so they didnt notice kagura finished the phone call. She glared at them. She slammed the phone down-catching their attention. They stared in fear. "Oi, why'd you lie to me? Just so you know, i AM coming on this job, uh huh,"
Gintoki sighed.
"No, you're not,"
She was surprised and coughed on her words. "Nande?? Im all better now, uh huh! Even the Sadist was allowed to go back to work, and his wounds havent fully healed, yes??!"
"Sorry Kagura-chan, but Gin-san is right. Besides, it was Okita-san who asked us not to let you work," shinpachi said.
"HUH? Who the hell does he think he is? He cant order me around," she said as she picked up her parasol and stormed out the door. "Wait Kagura-chan! You're mistaken, okita-san was-" *slam* "worried about you..."
There was silence for a few seconds as the two men sighed.
"Gin-san, should we go after her?"
"No, we should leave her alone for a while. She might figure things out if she's by herself..."
"But..." shinpachi said, "remember what Okita-san said,
A day ago at the Yorozuya:
"Gin-san can u get the door?"
"I cant, Im busy reading jump,"
Shinpachi's eye twitched as he went to open the door.
"Yo, megane, danna,"
"Ah okita-san, what are you doing here? Kagura-chan is at my sister's house if you're looking for her."
"No, im actually here to make a job request,"
"Eh? Is it from the shinsengumi or-"
"Its a personal request,"
Gintoki listened in on the conversation. "Ma, so long as you pay us,"
"Ah, but kagura-chan isnt home yet, maybe-"
"Actually, i dont really want China to hear about this," he said as he walked in and sat at the couch. "Im sure you guys know by now, about why that man went after china and all," shadows covered his eyes.
Gintoki looked up from his jump and stared at him with his dead fish eyes. "Ah, kamui and the baldy filled us in,"
"Well, that bastard has got ties eith a lot of shady groups and people in edo. And since China would be too dumb to realise if someobe is shady or not, its probably netter if she laid low for a little while."
Sougo got up and walked to the door.
"So, to put it into simpler words. You're worried about kagura arent you?"
"Well if thats how you see it, i just dont want that idiot messing up my case," he said as he walked out. "Im counting on you danna, megane."
"Keh, all you brats these days are such tsundere."
"Gin-san, what should we do?"
"It's not like we really need kagura on many of our next jobs, and, if whats hes saying is true, there could be people who request jobs just to target her."
"I guess your right, there could even be people targeting her on the streets, we cant lower our guard."
*end of flash back*
Kagura strolled through the streets of kabuki cho with her umbrella open in hand. 'Stupid sadist, who does he think he is? He cant order me around uh huh. He may be an S but im not his M.'
She unintentionally walked into the park where she would often duel with the sadist. Kagura went to the park bench where the sadist would usually be sleeping while slacking off. He's not here? Her eyes drifted to the shady tree next to it. Now that i think about it, i was sleeping with the sadist under the tree at that picnic. That time he was being a jerk, but at least he was being romantic, hmph. Unlike now. "But," she smiled. "It was a fun picnic. After that we went to play games," she started to recall happily. "And the sadist bought me food," she started drooling from the thought of food. "Ah, and then we the fireworks were starting so we went to find gin-chan and the others, and then i...what was i doing?" She trailed off, trying to unscramble her blurry memories. "Ah! I remember now! I bumped into a man, and then-" the memories of what happened next continued playing in her mind like a nightmare; A man had bumped into her, and then she felt a sting in her stomach, there was blood. And she mustve been injured with a poisoned weapon, because she could feel something coursing through her veins and rendering her body paralysed as she fell to the ground, struggling to get up, she also remembered then being attacked by several other people, who she couldve beaten if she wasnt paralysed. After these memories had run through her mind about ten times, they still wouldnt stop. She fell to her knees, droppimg her umbrella on the ground. She was clutching the sides of her head with both hands. It hurts...my head feels like it's gotten explode. Her body then fell flat to the ground, and the side of her face hit the hard floor, knocking her out.
