A/N: This is such a cute chapter. I hope you like it.
Harry, November 23rd
Niall came by the next Friday afternoon to drop off Julie. Chelsea was having a night in with her friends, and Niall himself was having meetings with his crew about a new upcoming movie. Therefore, I was babysitting. I'd never complain, though.
Aside from Louis, Julie was the light of my life.
It was when her and I sat down to solve a puzzle-which we did often-that I realised I still hadn't told her about my situation with Louis. Since I knew there would be a momentous reaction, I decided not to do it on my own, just like Louis and I had agreed earlier. So I brought my phone out to text him and see if he was free.
Our thread of recent text messages brought a habitual smile to my lips. They were from that same morning, and he'd sent a cute little message which included some pink heart emojis at the end. He barely used emojis, so when he did, I knew he wanted to get a point across. Especially when the text involved the words 'I miss you loads'.
"Julie is here. You should come over so we can have the chat" I typed in and added the winking emoji at the end.
I was just about to lock the screen before the ellipsis-bubble appeared on his side of the conversation.
This man was always quick.
"Tell her royalty is on their way" he replied, and seconds later another message popped up underneath. "Actually don't tell her. It's better to make it a surprise."
"Sure, but hurry up. Haven't seen you in a WEEK."
"I figure your arm also aches from all the wanking?"
It was a good thing Julie was carefully paying attention to her puzzle pieces instead of watching me, since my cheeks had gone fully red.
"SHUT UP."
"Calm it, curly. I'm just teasing. On my way now."
I slid the phone down my front pocket.
Julie had already solved one-third of the one-hundred-piece puzzle without my help. It was forming a large picture of a funfair with a sunset in the background and a crowd of people at the bottom.
I kept looking at it, and sure, my eyes picked up on the colours and the outlines. But still, somehow, all I could see was Louis.
"I can't find the cotton candy piece. For the sign."
I kept staring.
"Can you help me?"
Fuck, he was so attractive.
"Hawwy? Can you help me?"
"Oh, sorry," I said, snapping out of my trance. "What was it? Cotton candy sign?"
"Yes. I think maybe you are sitting on it."
She was right. The whole time, I had been sitting on the three pieces she thought were missing from the puzzle. At first, she was annoyed, but seconds later, she laughed about it. Her whole mentality was fascinating. It really reminded me of her father. One thing was for sure, though. She got the brains from Chelsea.
It was fifteen minutes later that the doorbell rang.
Julie's head snapped up.
"Is that pizza?"
"We've already eaten, darling," I said, smiling. "You should go check, though."
Just as her legs bounced up, she discarded the pieces she'd kept crammed inside her closed fist. She was already out of the room when I turned to let my eyes follow her as she strutted away. Once she had tore the front door open from afar, I could hear their voices as they greeted each other thereafter.
