In which Josh throws rocks at Tyler's window at almost four in the morning.
(TRIGGER WARNING: Northern Downpour reference) (It pays to be thorough, kiddos)

It is rare to see real, honest love outside of a book or movie. Even then, this love is fictional, being a description or image of love as people imagine it to be. This love shows itself in many ways--romantic kisses, passionate words, professions and proposals.

To Tyler, love was the sound of a rock hitting his window.

This sharp gray sound woke him at nearly four in the morning. At first, he thought it was just a branch scraping the window, but when he heard it a second and then a third time, each at a different intensity, he knew it must have been something else.

Climbing out of bed, he scrambled to the window seat, pushing aside a few tubes of paint and some loose brushes. He struggled with the window for a moment before managing to push it open and poking his head out.

Another rock sailed up towards him, and Tyler yelped, ducking back in. Fortunately, it missed, hitting just below the window.

He stuck his head back out, wary and a bit puzzled before he saw a dark figure standing in the grass. Even though the only light was that of the half moon above, Tyler could distinguish one identifying feature--the slight glint of blue hair.

"Josh!" Tyler whispered, hushed. "What are you doing here?"

"Just come down," Josh whispered back, almost urgently. "I'll explain, I promise."

Of course, it was entirely possible that Tyler's lover had completely lost his mind, but he decided to do what he'd asked anyway. He nodded, shut the window, and went back into his room. After throwing on a hoodie that he'd left laying on his floor, he carefully crept downstairs and through the side door into the backyard.

Josh was waiting in the narrow space between the fence and the garage. He grinned as he saw Tyler, and quickly pulled him in for a kiss.

It was cold out, but Josh was warm, and Tyler was only too happy to kiss him back. He tasted like sweet mint like he'd had one only a few moments ago. It wasn't long before he needed to breathe, but he stayed close just a moment longer before separating their lips.

"Hey," was all that Josh said, and then he laughed quietly.

"Hi." Tyler suddenly felt shy, and he stuffed his hands in the kangaroo pocket of his hoodie, leaning against the side of the garage.

"You're cute when you're flustered." Josh grinned and pressed a kiss to the top of Tyler's head.

"Yeah, yeah." Tyler couldn't help the slight blush on his face, and he lowered his eyes briefly before flicking them back up to his lover. "So, do you mind explaining why you're in my backyard at nearly for in the morning?"

"I missed you."

Now it was Tyler's turn to laugh. "It couldn't have waited until morning?"

Josh shook his head and rested his chin on top of the other boy's head, lightly stroking Tyler's cheek with his thumb. This was quite possibly one of Tyler's favorite things in the entire world, and he relaxed into Josh's chest. They stayed that way for a few minutes.

"We're teenagers, we're allowed to do stupid things sometimes," Josh said finally, tugging on one of the strings of Tyler's hoodie and glancing down, his grin back on his face. "Like wear boxers outside before dawn to see our boyfriend, for example."

Tyler's face flushed, and he pushed Josh lightly. "Shut up."

"Make me."

Quickly, the smaller boy grasped the front of Josh's shirt and pulled him back for another kiss, which Josh immediately reciprocated, running his fingers through Tyler's fluffy hair. This kiss was shorter than the last one but more passionate, and Tyler felt a swirl of pink and red from his throat down to his abdomen.
