Rin, Risa, Sarah and Soccer
Rin, Sarah, Risa and Darrell were standing in the school playground during recess two days later, when she spotted him. She hadn't seen him since the experience at the mall. Just looking at him made Darrell boil with anger; he had just been another idiot, but she had mistaken him to be different. Whatever, it was over now.
"Whatcha lookin' at?" asked Rin, trying to follow her gaze. Sarah, being the girly fashionista who she was, remarked, "More like who. I swear Darrell if you have started liking someone else already, I'm gonna tear off your pants and put it on display in the school's library."
"Sarah!" Darrell exclaimed. Sarah was still not accepting the fact that Matt Smith and Darrell had broken up. Actually, Darrell had dumped him and it was because of his friends. It just went too far, with his friends taking her pictures and harrassing her, just 'cause she was dating Matt. She tried to explain to Matt that those weren't his real friends; they didn't want him happy. He even agreed but he just couldn't control them and in the end, Darrell just ended it. What happiness was she gaining from dating a guy, when being with him only brought her insult and sadness?
Sarah kept saying that none of it was his fault and he still really liked Darrell. Honestly, she knew he really liked her and would do anything for her, but he couldn't stop his so-called friends, could he? Everyday she came home feverish and with a headache. Is that what a relationship is meant to be about?
Darrell still remembered how in the beginning when he told her that he liked her, she had felt like the happiest person on Earth. She still remembered all the times they spent together, laughing, having fun and just being in each other's arms. But that time was too short compared to the time when Darrell used to cry at night, when she was feverish in the day and that whenever they were together, they argued. He apologised again and again and she gave him many chances but it didn't work. He had no influential power over others. He couldn't stop his friends.
"I don't think anyone's interested in pants hanging in the library; whereas, a bra would be much more interesting," Rin was saying to Risa and Sarah when Darrell zoned back into reality. Sarah smiled slyly at Darrell and said, "Alright, a bra it is then. With Darrell Arnold printed across it." Darrell smiled. Her friends were idiots but, she loved them. "I don't like anyone guys, you know that. I was just looking at Tray."
"Tray who?" asked Sarah, narrowing her eyes at Darrell. "Tray Orgon?!" exclaimed Rin at almost the same time. Sarah's head snapped towards Rin and she started the interrogation almost immediately. "Who's Tray? Is he cute? Where is he, point towards him, Rin! Hey, is he a jerk or what? Does he have a girlfriend?" And on... And on...
Rin knew everyone at their school so she was the first one any of them turned to for information, or gossip. But, Sarah was the one who was actually interested in this stuff, at least where Darrell was connected in one way or another. A long time ago, Sarah had made it her mission to become Darrell's mom. She checked anyone who talked to Darrell, looked at her or even passed her. Darrell knew that it was just a way she was showing her love.
Sarah Abock knew less about the people around school because she was new and just joined few months ago. Darrell and Sarah had been friends since earlier because their fathers worked in the same company and they often met at company gatherings and parties. Plus, when both Mr. Arnold and Mr. Abock started working on a project together, Sarah and Darrell had grown closer. Now, Sarah was officially one of her Besties. Even though Sarah didn't seem like it, she was horrible in studies, which worried her friends.
Rin Hazon, on the other hand, was in Carlos High since first year and knew too many people to be normal. She was popular, though not exactly on the top of the food chain. She knew about every new movie, new song, what's in, what's not and still managed to be good in studies.
