Losing You

Baldi and Princi were sitting at home, books in hand, reading together, as they had been doing the past year.

Baldi sighed and put down the book. "Princi?" he asked.

"Hmm?"

"Do you.. do you.. uhh.."

"What?"

"I.. do you think we'll always be the close?"

Princi didn't say anything. He didn't understand what he was trying to say.

"What are you talking about?"

"I mean, we're still pretty young. We do stupid stuff and have tons of fun together! But.."

"But..?"

"But will it always be like that? ..Eventually you'll have a family of your own. The same for me. And we'll have our jobs too.."

"You know we've been planning to work together for half a year now, Baldi."

"But.. there'll be other teachers there. And naughty kids that you'll have to focus on.."

Baldi sobbed silently while covering his eyes. "You won't have time to hang out with me.. not like now.." Princi stood up and said, "Baldi, I'll never forget you. No matter how many teachers there are, and how naughty the kids are. Don't you realize you're the reason I want to open a school? Actually, I take that back. I want to open a school together. We're best friends! How could I stop hanging out with you?"

"It's just that-"

"Shhhhh.. you worry too much, Baldi."
Princi interrupted while putting his finger on Baldi's lips.

Princi took a camping hat of the table and placed it on Baldi.

"You even have that big field trip planned! You'll be a great math teacher! Besides, you have so many other friends. So.. what has you so worried?"

Baldi held his book tightly. He got up and hugged Princi so suddenly that his hat flew off.

"I have friends.. all over the place." Baldi cried.
"But you're the only best friend I got.."

Princi stood there while Baldi hugged him.

"It's okay Baldi.. it's okay."
