Delta had spend the rest of the day in her room, after a maid kindly asked her to leave lady Withlock's room when sleep had overcome her.
Her bag lay open on the bed, jeans, shirts and other pieces of ordinary clothing peaking out. She had hangers and hangers of dresses, all of which belonged to the Withlock mansion, but Marcia had mentioned that the shoes were specially bought for her and belonged solely to Delta.
She had no intention of taking them with, though. Yes, they were beautiful and probably cost a small fortune, but she had enough pride to leave it behind and worry of more important things to fit into her bag - like her laptop which was near death and the box for the chain Coal had given her.
The chain knocked against her chest as she sat up from the floor, picking up a fallen shirt. She glanced down at the stone, the raw greyish eye with specks of gold and undeniable blue. She hadn't noticed the blue before - not the light or the darker shades. Delta shrugged, assuming the light played tricks with her.
She was halfway through packing her bag, a few items sprawled on the bed, when a slight jab opened her doors to reveal a relaxed Archer.
He stood against the door frame, his face blank and casual. He didn't wait for her to invite him in before he straightened up and entered her chamber.
"It's not very nice for a man to enter a girl's room unannounced." She said.
"I'm sorry." Was all he said.
Archer sat at the edge of her bed, his fingers playing with the fur of one of her jackets.
"My family can be a bit . . . Different."
"It's okay." She said, much to Archer's surprise. He was expecting her to agree with him and rant about them for hours. But what she said was much worse.
"I can tell when I'm not welcomed."
Archer shot to his feet, a hand reaching out to Delta's arm. "Of course you're welcomed here, Delta. That's why we called you over."
Delta looked down at his hand and shrugged it off gently.
"I don't blame them, really. It's not like I even knew they existed all this time ago."
"And yet you were still willing to help."
Delta took the jacket Archer had been playing with and neatly placed it in her suitcase, carefully hiding the box from Coal.
Her fingers lingered on the box for a moment, contemplating if she should even bother taking it or return it back to him.
It's a good omen - he had said, or for her to at least take it as one.
"You're leaving." He said as if speaking to himself.
She nodded.
"Not yet, but maybe in two days time. I'll just need some time to book my ticket and organise everything for me back home."
Archer glanced at her bag, nearly packed to the zip. She still had clothes on the bed, some fallen on the floor and a few on the dresser at the other end of the room. How she'd fitted everything before remained a mystery to him.
"I'm going to get the matzim, despite my family asking me not to."
Delta looked up from the suitcase, her finger tips still flat on the box.
"Well that's nice. I'm sure you'll get it in no time." She said curtly, her gaze burning something powerful and painful into his golden orbs.
"I'd like you to help." He said.
