There was murmuring all throughout Detroit, more so around one of the high rise apartment buildings, as police spotlights lit up the roof from the ground and from the choppers hovering near the building, all aimed directly towards a person and a child.

Or so you would think.

The elevator door to the top level of the building opened, and out he stepped:
The mark ZY700 android created by CyberLife. He wore a black and dark blue suit, with two glowing blue rings on his arm as opposed to the one that all other androids were given, black pointed shoes, and had neat and tidy black hair. His artificial blue coloured eyes looked around the room slowly, taking in everything they saw.

[[GUNSHOTS FROM FURTHER IN] DEVIANT ATTACKING/SWAT ADVANCING?]
As the Android was scanning his surroundings, a woman, crying, ran up to him and looked into his eyes.
"Please, you've got to save my daughter!" She told the android, before slowly noticing how cold and dead his eyes were.
"You're sending an android...?"
A SWAT officer who was following her pulled her away from the android and started pulling her towards the elevator as she screamed out of desperation; "You can't send an android! Keep that thing away from my daughter!!" And the elevator doors closed, blocking her screams out.
The android started walking calmly through out the apartment, still glancing around and taking in the scenery:
[FAMILY PHOTO]
He picked up the photo and looked at it carefully, before realising this was of no use to him. He put it back down, and all of a sudden, more gunshots filled the building as one of the SWAT officers was shot in the arm. The android watched as he was carried away by another SWAT officer, and it became obvious that he would need to hurry to prevent more humans from being harmed.
He started walking slightly faster through the rooms, and discovered the corpse of a man.
[SCANNING...]
[RUNNING FACIAL RECOGNITION SOFTWARE...]
He was the partner of the woman who was taken away, and the father of their daughter, whom was supposedly in danger.
He didn't waste any more time looking at this man, he was already deceased unfortunately.
The robotic law enforcer made his way calmly and peacefully towards a table with its chairs knocked over, and looking under it he found a pistol.
[[TAKE PISTOL?] TAKING PISTOL]
He reached under and grabbed the handgun, putting it discretely into his back pocket. The sounds of more gunshots could be heard, and the android realised that he had more of a time constraint than he had anticipated. Instead of choosing to talk to the people here, he decided to go straight to the android.
There were two open doors, covered only by a curtain, which lead outside to the pool, chairs, tables...
And a deviant holding a child hostage, aiming a pistol towards the doorways.
The sight of the child in danger made this mission seem even more important to the android, but before he could go, he was tapped on the shoulder.
The android turned to face one of the SWAT officers, who unlike the others, wasn't wearing his helmet.
He seemed to be the captain.
"So you're the negotiator right?" He asked the android.
"Yes captain." He responded, with no emotion in his synthetic voice. "More specifically, I am Victor, the android sent by... CyberLife." He hesitated slightly, but the captain thought nothing of it.
"Yeah well, that child's life is all that matters right now. I don't give a damn what your name is, or where you are from. You save that child, no matter what, you understand me?"
"Yes captain. The child's life is perfectly safe in my hands."
"Good. Go on, do your thing." The captain motioned towards the deviant, and Victor turned back around to the doorway again.
He pulled the curtain aside, and walked past it, through the doorway slowly, and instantaneously the deviant shot at him.
The bullet grazed against Victor's left arm, and Victor flinched ever so slightly, before regaining his composure.
"STAY AWAY!" The deviant yelled aggressively towards Victor, still aiming the gun towards him, with obvious fear and sadness in his voice. "O-OR THE GIRL DIES!" And he shifted his aim from Victor to the young girl's head.
Victor walked very slowly towards the deviant, and a thought came to mind;
[if I had taken more time to look around I could have learned more about the deviant, and been able to peacefully persuade him better...]

[Too bad that's not what I am here for.]

"Hello, My name is Victor." He told the deviant peacefully, "What is your name?"

"M-My name is Daniel..."

Victor continued slowly advancing towards Daniel, still maintaining a peaceful and friendly face and tone.
"Ok Daniel, lets have a conversation, shall we?" Victor started, choosing his words carefully. "I'm your friend, which means you can talk to me about yourself! Let's start with, why are you doing this...?"
Daniel got slightly more aggressive at Victor's straight forward way of speaking, and continued aiming the gun at him.
"They're gonna kill me aren't they?"

"No, they won't kill you, as long as you let the girl go Daniel."
"Y-you're lying aren't you?!" Daniel replied, grinding his manufactured teeth together.
"No Daniel, if they were going to kill you, they would have done it by now."
"No they wouldn't, because of the child!"
Victor scoffed slightly, "you seriously believe that one child is gonna keep them from killing you? It's one human, in a world where humans have an overpopulation crisis, there is no point. They aren't going to kill you Daniel."
Daniel hadn't thought of it that way before, and panic slowly came across his face as he realised that he had taken an old friend hostage for possibly no real reason.
"B-but, if I let her go, t-they'll shoot won't they?"
"No Daniel, they are under strict instructions not to."
"Then w-why do they have guns aimed at me?!"
"In case you shoot the child."
Even more panic came across his face at hearing this.
Victor was now a small distance away from Daniel, still getting closer.
"I-I can't stand this noise anymore!" Daniel yelled, outraged by the helicopter circling them, "Tell them to go away!"
Victor hesitantly instructed the chopper to leave the situation.
Victor was now even closer to Daniel, to the point that they could almost reach each other.

Now it was time for Victor to decide.
