I know they're hiding something from me. The doctors asked us to leave for now and they said I probably won't be able to leave home again.

But we have skype and she will be busy with therapy for now.

The good news is she's awake.

We went back home and went to sleep.

The next morning, Enzo brought me breakfast to bed.

I sat there eating, not saying much.

"What's wrong beautiful?"

"Do you know Cali?"

He stared at me a little longer. Wiping his face with his napkin.

"I think we need to wait and talk with Cali here.".

What! The! Fuuuuuck!

"Uhhh yeah, that's gonna be a no from me. Were you fucking her?"

"What? Eww, God no."

"Well what is going on Enz? I'm freaking out over here. And when I'm freaking out, our daughter is."

He sighed and put his plate on the table.

"There's a lot you don't know Erin. A lot I chose not to tell you. Uhh, I've known you since you were a little girl.  You were five and my dad used to sell dope to your mom. He brought me over a few times and we would sit in the living room together. I thought you were cute then, and I kept my eye on you. I was a kid, I couldn't help you at the time. I always hung around checking in on you from time to time." He paused, running his hand through his hair.

" Cali is my half sister."

"WHAT?"

"Her mom is from here and her and my dad hooked up one night and he knocked her up, and she moved away to California. I never knew she was my sister until they moved back here and dad took us over there one day. She wanted nothing to do with us. She acted as if I didn't exist. My dad was bad news and she stayed far away..."

He trailed off looking into the distance.

"She thought I was like him. I wasn't, I'm not. I was getting older, and I needed to make sure you were okay. I sought out Cali one day and asked her to befriend you. She said she would as long as I never told anyone we were kin."

I listened to him without saying a word. I tried processing everything and I feel betrayed. Lied to. Everything was a damn lie. I sit there with tears spilling out of my eyes. Life could never be fair for me. Everything that gave me joy, happiness it wasn't real.

"Baby no don't cry. "

He reached over to wipe my tears and I jerked my head back.

"Keep talking Enzo." I seethed.

His eyes watered and he looked hurt. Good. Now he knows how I'm feeling.

" I never spoke to her again until she was hired at the gym. It was pure coincidence. She knew I was fond of you. I asked her to formally introduce us, and she refused. She introduced you to Dean instead. She could have never known what he was. But it broke my heart even more. I let you go. I realized I'd never be part of your life. I should've fought harder baby. I should've done something. We were meant to be together. From the first time I met you I always knew."

"So what I've gotten from that is you and Cali both lied to me."

I stared him down, not understanding anything that was truly going on.

"No baby. I tried to do what I could to make sure you were okay. Cali really is your best friend. She loves you. You had a better life with her. You got away from your mother. Don't blame Cali. She never truly knew why I asked her that.  I should've came clean earlier. I just didn't want to upset you. Please believe me love."

"I need to go."

"What? No baby. Please don't do this."

"I need some time to think."

"Okay I can sleep in the other room tonight."

"No, I need a few days alone."

"Babe, you can't be alone."

"Well I'll figure it out. You either let me leave or you can."

"You stay. I want you both safe."

"Thanks."

"Erin, I'm not giving up this time. I am in love with you. I want a life with you. I have been here the entire time almost for your pregnancy. Don't shut me out. Just think everything over baby. Don't throw us away before we can finally have a fair chance."

He kissed my forehead and he was gone.

I collapsed on the bed and cried myself to sleep.
