The Night Before Halloween
___
Michael stood completely still, per usual.
He was stationed directly in front of his cell door, staring out of the small window to watch anyone that may have walked by on occasion.
The sanitarium was going to bring out the patients for dinner fairly soon.
Michael tilted his head slowly at the thought, his mind wandering to the many possibilities that could unfold if things went as planned.
He inhaled slowly, inhumanly patient.
Waiting for the perfect time to strike.
He was pulled out of his bland thoughts when the sound of keys clattering against his door echoed into his room.
James, the guard from earlier, pulled the door open and jumped back in surprise when he was met with the presence of Michael directly in front of him.
"Shit!" James placed his hand against his chest, regaining his composure. "You scared the ever loving hell outta me," he informed, not that Michael didn't already know.
"You must be hungry. Perfect." James finished speaking and swiftly cuffed Michael's wrists before pulling him out of his room and into the hall.
James glanced up at Michael, seeing as Michael was so much taller than him. The shorter man attempted to make conversation with the silent killer, "So, you wanna know what we've got for dinner tonight?" He asked, tilting his head nervously.
Michael breathed out slowly, looking down at James whilst they walked. His expression unreadable from under his mask, which left James even more unnerved than before.
"Okay," James mumbled and looked forward, his grip on Michael's chains tightening a bit, "Well, you're gonna get some mashed potatoes, maybe some gravy. Also some milk and chicken- sorry if your vegetarian." He joked, his voice trembling slightly.
He looked up at Michael once again, swallowing hard when he realized Michael was still staring down at him.
"So I heard you like to watch people?" James continued, trying his best to fill the silence.
He bit his tongue and shook his head, "It's hard walking around with you without another person to do it with." James confessed, ashamed in his jumpy behavior.
Michael breathed steadily as a response, his shoulders rising and falling slowly.
"Um... Anyways... How're you doing now that your little friend is gone? You miss her?" James asked, looking back at Michael, only to be met with Michael swiftly raising his hands and wrapping them around Jame's neck. He quickly lifted the shorter male from his feet and slammed him into the wall.
James became frantic almost immediately, his eyes grew wide and his hands released Michael's chains and moved to the large males hands, attempting to loosen Michael's grip around his neck.
"Mi-Michael!-" James managed to choke out as the air began to leave his lungs.
Michael's grip proceeded to tighten, his eyes narrowing from beneath his mask as he watched the life leave the guards face.
After another moment of choking James, Michael swiftly twisted the smaller mans neck, listening silently to the sound of snapping bones.
The killer slowly released Jame's now dead body, allowing it so slowly slink to the floor and rest against the wall limply.
