The Meditators

The following chapter details what little is known about the ancient Meditator race. Enjoy, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
The Meditators
The real name of this ancient race is unknown, and apart from a few artifacts, next to nothing remains to tell us about their culture. What we do know is that they were extremely advanced, and that it is speculated that they ruled Serelic (our home planet) up until 10,000 years ago, when their entire race just disappeared. Some believe that the Meditators were survivors of an ancient race that survived the Last Nuclear War. Others believe that they were extraterrestrial, due to the lack of functional technology in the years after the war. It is a common belief on Black Rock that our Forges were based off of Meditator designs, but we only have a single piece of evidence:
"Meditation will bring greater Ideas for eons to come."
(There is nothing more about this phrase.)
Where did they go?
Two of the questions that we still struggle to answer:
Why did they leave?
And where did they go?
Countless theories for their departure have been proposed, from virulent disease, to a climate change, to extraterrestrial invasion (which has happened in the past). Countless other theories exist, but these seem to be the most logical, given recent and distant history. Everyone accepts that they if they did in fact leave, that they left the solar system. The closest star nearby (with the exception of the sun), named Virgo C (also a red giant), could be a good place to start. But, if they were indeed fleeing something, then surely they'd have gone farther?
As of right now, we lack the time to launch an expedition to that star.
We also accept that our own current scientific achievements are still mediocre compared to the past. The Forges prove this fact better than anything. How did the Meditators create these advanced devices otherwise?
And finally, what exactly is Nano? Did the Meditators know of it, and if so, did they ever build mines dedicated to retrieving it?
