Cathy's kids. These words kept doing their own little chant in my brain. Aunt Cathy has eight kids. Eight kids is bad enough, but when seven of the eight kids are boys...it's a nightmare. The only girl was five years old. I tried to remember their names.
Todd's the youngest, he's three.
Then comes Bailey, she's five.
The dreaded eight year old twins; Evan and Michael.
Andrew is 11 and very shy.
Jacob is 15. Him and Jordan will be in the same grade this year.
Sammy is 17.
And the worst is Jaxon. Jaxon is 18 and he is the biggest jerk ever!
Last time I saw Jaxon was when we were 14 and he acted like he was going to kiss me but ended up pushing me out of the tall oak tree we were climbing. He didn't even come to see me in the hospital. I shuddered at the memory. I'll admit, I used to have a tiny little crush on Jaxon. Jordan used to tease me about it. But that was back when I was young and foolish.
I looked in the mirror examining myself over. I definitely had changed since then, my hair had went from light brown to a soft, shiny blonde. Bleached from the sun. My blue/grey eyes looked mostly blue today. My hair was up in a messy bun considering it was 110 degrees outside. Damn Arizona weather.
Last time I saw Jaxon my hair was light brown and up in two sloppy braids. I had gold framed glasses and braces with purple rubber bands across the front.
Now I have contacts and got rid of my braces two years ago. I was fairly pretty, not like some girls.
I've had a few boyfriends, we broke up for different things. Trust issues, meeting someone else, too possesive, etc.
My thought were interupted my a knocking on my door, even though it was wide open. Jordan was standing there one hand in his pocket, looking around my now rather plain room considering I'd taken down my paintings and posters and such. "What's up?" I asked glancing at him, while I went back to packing. "um...well...I was just...I mean..." He stuttered, looking for the right words. "Spit it out Jordan." I told him, now interested in what he had to say. He stood there for a moment, I looked him over.
My little brother was definitely handsome, and a big hit with the girls. He had sandy blonde hair that he got from out father. And the blue eyes he got from out mother. My dad has gray eyes. Mother has blue. Mine are a mix of the two. My mother has red hair, that our older sister got.
She's 21 and moved out with her fiance. Maddy comes over quite a bit. She is five months pregnant with her first child. She is really excited.
Jordan let out a big sigh and said "Do you not want me to come with you to California?" He finally said, he looked really scared of what I would say. "No, of course I want you to come buddy." I walked over to him and pulled him into a hug. He stood there for a second before putting his hands on my back, hugging me back. He pulled out of the hug and said "Oh good, I was really scared that you would be mad at me because I was coming." He sighed a big sigh of relief. "I'm not." I smiled re-assuring him. "Since your in here would you mind getting that?' I asked giving him my best puppy-dog face, pointing to a 'Breaking Benjamin' poster that was to high up for me to reach. Even though he was only 14 he was probably getting close to six foot. Me, I'm only five foot two inches. Rather short. He grinned and reached up and peeled the poster off the wall, handing it to me. "Thanks J" I smiled at him, folding the poster. "No problem" He said as he turned and walked out of my room. I started packing, dreading moving in with the Jones' family.
