Chapter two
Blair's P.O.V
Per the teacher's request, I'm currently walking over to Qwin Shebe's house to drop off homework for the past three days he's missed. It's not uncommon for him to miss school, and this is not the first time I've had to do this. I'm usually 'greeted' by his dad at the door as soon as I knock once, as if he's just waiting there for me. It's honestly kind of creepy. That's why I got worried when no one answered the door. You might might not be able to tell from the above, but I may have a little crush on Qwin.
I knock I again, three times. No answer. Again. Still no answer. I twist the handle, and the door opens. Another worrying thing: door's unlocked. I add that to my list.
Being sensible me, I barge right in. I'm running at this point, looking for any sign of life. Not judging Qwin, seeing as I'm pretty sure his father beats him, but man is his house is dirty. Not messy, literally dirty. The floor is covered in layers of dust, and there's trash and animal poop everywhere.
Then I hear "I'M SORRY!"from upstairs. I had been dreading going upstairs, but that yell sounded like Qwin. Before my mind registered what I was doing, I had run up the stairs, down the hallway and stopped in front of a locked door, from which I hear faint breathing. I body slam the door, splintering it to pieces. Stepping through, I gasp. Qwin is lying on the ground, with knives around him, and blood all over the floor around him.
I call 911.
"911, What's your emergency?" The operator says quickly.
" Yes, hello I need an ambulance!" I yell into the receiver of the old phone that was positioned on the faded flowering wallpaper of the hallway.
"What is your address, and I'll send one right over. Please stay on the phone, ma'am. What's the emergency?" She asked.
I told her the address of the house, and when explaining the situation, I said " My- uh - my friend cut his wrists and is bleeding out on the floor." Just try to keep calm, I tell myself.
" Ambulance is on its way."
I hear it now. I say thank you and hang up. Medics burst through the door downstairs, and I start yelling. When they reached us, they put Qwin on a stretcher and carry him down towards the flashing lights. Another escorts me down the stairs and into the back of the vehicle. All will be ok.
Hopefully.
