Happy New year to all of my readers and my apologies for the lack of entries lately. I have not kept up with my writing and I have no one to blame but myself. I shall make every effort to stay on a more regular schedule as of now...
My uncle is a retired MP. This is not uncommon in this area because of a fairly large military compound not far from my town. Once, when I was little, I asked him to tell me a ghost story from his time as an MP. He had two that I couldn't forget so I will share them today.
My uncle was patrolling a residential area on the base when he was told that a resident of the area heard strange noises near the outdoor church. This church was mostly benches surrounding a cross made from old railroad rails painted white. He was close by, so he went to check on the church and found something very strange indeed. Hanging from the cross were three deer, all fresh kills. He called a game warden who came to pick up the deer. After he had taken care of everything he understood how strange this was. The area that he was in was patrolled by many other MPs, only fifteen minutes would have passed after one person left and another would be there. That also meant that whoever hung the deer from the cross would have had only fifteen minutes to drive up, unload and hang up the deer, and then drive away.
A few weeks later, and he was informed of more strange activity near the church. He was already on his way there so he went to check it out. When he got there he found a giant bonfire blazing in front of the cross. He called in more people to put out the fire and continued his rounds.
Not long after this the same thing happened again. When he went to see what had happened yet again, he found that the cross had been painted black. He reported the incident and continued on his rounds again. Later he found out that the church had been removed due to "cult activity".
My second story happened in the building where Mary Surratt, the first woman to be executed by the US government, was hanged. My uncle and some other MPs were called to the building by the security guard. When they got there the security guard asked them to look at the security cameras. They watched and at first everything looked normal, but then the light at the end of the first floor hallway turned on. Then it went out and the next one turned on. This continued until the lights reached the end of the hallway. He looked at the second story hallway screen and saw that the same thing was happening there. They all looked over at the security guard, whose face had gone pale. "You're on your own, pal." and then they left. (He later informed me that this is how to avoid horror movies) As he walked down the hallway on his way out of the building he felt a cold chill. It was summer.
They were called a second time and they brought a few police dogs with them. My uncle was in control of the dogs and as they went inside he could not get the dogs to follow. They stopped and whimpered as if there was an invisible line they could not cross. He continued to pull on the leash but the dogs went wild. The two of them broke free of the leash and ran away. Keep in mind that these dogs were trained to handle any situation. My uncle turned to the security guard and said "I'm not going in there without the dogs, if they think it isn't safe I don't think it is either." Then he left to catch the dogs and was never called back to the building.
Also just something I think you guys should know, when he was a kid in Pennsylvania he worked at a restaurant owned by a guy in the mafia. He was around 14 at the time and would pick up stuff for him. He knew all these mafia guys because they would have meetings in the back of the restaurant and he would get them drinks and food. He was asked if he wanted to join the mafia but his mom said no and he was too young.
