"Today, is the day that you enter your adulthood. For the teenagers who are here to be sectioned, you are no longer considered young or carefree. You, ladies and gentleman are considered to be mature and hardworking," Controler Scorpio Lufino's voice rang out through the crowd.
Claudia use to think he was handsome when she was younger. But now he looked intimidating with his crystal white hair neatly braided, his icy cold eyes and narrowed eyebrows. She forced herself to keep looking at him as she squeezed both her parent's hands.
"Every sixteen year old today will be sectioned, " the Controler countinued, "either you are sectioned in th the Guards; where you will learn the skills you need to battle and be a soldier-, "
The Controler was interrupted by a loud bostrous cry from the Guards.
"-Or maybe you will be sectioned to the Hunters where hunting skills are used everyday in the forests.
The Hunters let out a whistle.
"Or perhaps you shall be a faithful servant if you are sectioned to the Merrymaids-,"
The Merrymaids simply clapped. Once the clapping settled down the Controler opened him mouth to speak again but only to find himself interrupted by a Leaguer.
"What about the Leaguers?!"
The Controler shot a glare at the direction the voice had come from, "Yes, I guess I can't forget the lengendary Leaguers. We have not had a Leaguer for quite sometime but I guess some of you might be lucky. If you are to be a Leaguer, you are to be faithful warrior here on land and up in the sky on Utopia. You might have heard that their will be an interesting project coming soon. Anyway, I guess it is time we get started. Bring it out!"
From behind a red curtain, two Guard soliders dressed in black pushed a green globe like object in to view; the Sectioner. The audience immediately aplauded. Claudia joined in, reluctantly. The Controler walked up to it and pushed a red button and it opened it was showing the inside. Inside there was medium sized white chair with wires hooked up to it. The walls of the Sectioner had a red cushioning.
"When you sit in the chair a head piece will be placed on your head, " the Controler explained, "the macjinary will close. You are to keep your eyes shut while you are in there. When you come out a section name will be hovering over the machine. follow these rules and nothing will go wrong. When yo are done you are to sit with your sections. Red for Hunters, brown for the Merrymaids, black for the Guards, and white for the Leaguers. Now the list please."
The tension was becoming thick. The Hunters looked solom, the Merrymaids looked dull, the Guards looked bored, and the Leaguers looked hopeless.
A small pudgy maid dressed in brown shuffled over to the Controler and handed him the list.
"First, Lacey Showdel."
Claudia and her family perked up. Lacey had been Claudia's friend since they were young.
Maybe, we will be in the same section together, Claudia thought as she watched Lacey enter the machinery. Ten minutes later Lacey was heading over to the Merrymaids who didn't seem so cheerful.
"Charles Sleen. "
He ended up coming out of the Sectioner with the red word HUNTER glowing above it.
Claudia could geel her heart quickening as the Controler's list became smaller and smaller.
Please don't call me, Claudia thought over and over again.
Claudia Moonstreak."
Claudia's heart thundered as she slowly got up. She looked at her family then around, every person in the Town Hall was staring at her.
Just like hunting, She thought as she slowly started to make her way to the machine, breath on and out, don't tremble.
"Just sit here, dear, " the Controler ordered as he gestured towards the Sectioner, once she reached him.
Not trusting herself to speak, Claudia simply nodded and stepped in to the machine and took a seat. Slowly, the Sectioner closed. She felt something lightly clutch her head; the head piece.
Now close your eyes, Claudia thought.
But her eyes would not obey it was like she was frozen. Before, Claudia kew it the machine hummed to life and she started seeing colors. She felt her stomach turing upside down as the Sectioner began to shudder violently.
"This isn't suppose to happen, "Claudia mummered to herself , "this isn't suppose to happen!"
Let me out, She thought as she paniced, let me out!
Claudia couldn't take it anymore, she felt like she was going to be sick. But all of a sudden the shuddering stopped the head piece was gone, and the machine was opening.
Claudia staggered out of it as she clenched her stomach. Everyone was staring with amazement-even the Controler was. But Claudia realized something; they weren't staring at her, they were staring at something behind her.
Claudia slowly managed to turn around. The last thing she saw be for she fainted was the fiery white word LEAGUER while her new section cheered for her.
