~RachelI walk up to her glass cage. "Meow," I hear her say from inside. She walks up to me and rubs up against the clear glass. She glances up at me with clear blue eyes. I could have sworn I saw my reflection.... I reach inside the cage and pick her up. The softness of her fur makes me melt. I hold her up to my chest. Her back fits snugly under my chin. I raise a hand to pet her, but I stop mid air. I can't get too attached, I think to myself, closing my eyes trying to hold back my hand as she looks at me pleadingly. No, I can't. I put her back down, but she tries to climb up my arm, but sliding back down again, not wanting to go back into her prison of a home. Tears start welling up in my eyes. They sting. I try and wipe them away with the back of my dry hand. I sniffle, and a few people look my way, but I don't care, all I care about is this kitten. Wait, did I just say that? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, NO! I'm getting attached! I pull all of my strength together to stop the tears from running down my face. I put down the kitten gently and begin to open the door on to the busy street. I glance back towards the clear box, which contains her. Poor thing, I think to myself. She stares at me with crystal eyes that shine in the sun light. Suddenly my feet start moving back towards her and her eyes light up even more. I have no control over my legs. My whole body for that matter, but I'm not trying to fight it, because deep down I know that she belongs with me.
~Kitty
She walks towards me gracefully, with her hands down by her side. She approaches my cage and I meow softly. She sighs a little and her shoulders relax. How can she get even more pretty? I ask myself, She reaches her hand inside and picks me up. Now it's my turn to relax. Her hand is so soft that I melt against her touch. I feel a feeling that I've never felt before, but heard people say. What's it called? Safe? Yeah, that's the word. I feel safe. She snuggles me under her her chin, with my feet by her chest. I can feel her whole body rising and falling. I feel warm. Cozy. Safe... She raises her arm, and I prepare for a pet, but she stops, and puts it down again. I open one eye, and see it down by her side again. Suddenly she starts to move pretty rapidly and I get scared for a moment. She tries to place me back in my box. The one place where I really don't want to be. I try to climb up her soft arm, but slip down almost instantly, nearly falling on my head. I begin to walk away thinking, Well, I guess she's no better than the rest. I glance back towards her and see her stop. I have a moment of hope, so I run to the edge of my prison. She gives a little smile, then tries to walk forward, but instead she walks towards me! Yay! I think, my new owner!
