Kitty-
She nearly runs towards me and almost tumbles into the glass cage which contains me. She opens the top and pulls me out. She brings me up to her face and snuggles she nose into my fur, then reaches up and strokes my back before walking to the counter with me in her arms. She tightens her grip. Just enough to make me feel safe and warm, but not enough to make it uncomfortable. "How much?" I hear her ask the owner, Manny. He's an older guy with gray streaks in his hair, but still handsome. He gives her a warm smile, and says,
"You have a connection. She belongs with you. No money necessary." He winks at her and comes around the counter to put something on my neck. I try to look down and see a pink collar that says, Kitty, in beautiful cursive. I look up at my new owner and she smiles down at me which causes a rush of warmth to run throughout my whole body. I purr and rub my head against her soft chest and neck, which contains a beautiful pearl necklace that rubs against my fur. Suddenly, there is a crash which makes me jump. Manny runs towards the noise. He comes back from one of the aisles with a clown fish in a plastic bag. "His brother didn't make it." He looks down at his feet with a sad look on his face. A tear runs down his cheek and splattered on to the tile floor. He loved animals. Rachel looks at him with sorrow in her eyes. She felt bad for him. He sniffled, and that caused more people to look over and see him with the striped fish in his wrinkly hands.
Rachel-
I find myself jogging towards her glass prison. She runs towards me and pushes her little nose up against the glass. I pick her up and hold her up against my face. I nearly melt with joy. I take a deep breath. Her fur smells like Christmas. Mistletoe, ginger cookies, new gifts, pine trees, and snow. I melt all over again. She pushes her little head against my chin. She vibrates with happiness. I walk towards the counter of which Manny stands behind.
"How much?" I ask him curiously.
He smiled at me, then at the kitten. I think he melted at the sight of her, too.
"You have a connection. She belongs with you. No money necessary." He winks at me then walks around the corner with a little wobble. He reaches around the cat's neck and I hear a click. She tries to look down, and sees slightly. I look at what he put on my kitten. It's a little pink collar, which contains the word, Kitty, in beautiful cursive. She looks at me and I can't do anything but smile at her. I look up at Manny, and I'm not the only grinning madly. There is a sudden crash which causes half the people and animals in the store to glance up. Kitty jumps, but I keep a firm grip on her without hurting her. Manny rushes into the aisle that it came from. A minute later, he emerges from the aisle with a plastic bag in hand. I look closer and see a clown fish. "His brother didn't make it," he says looking down at his shoes joylessly. A tear runs down his face and plops on to the tile floor. He lets out a sniffle which causes more people to look up at him and give a strange look after noticing the little fish in his hands.
Sorry for such the short chapter... Hope it was still enjoyable!!! YAy!! Kitty found a home!!! but what about her brother???
