"class, settle down- we have a new student today."
lucas's attention turns from his best friend, yuta, to mr kim, and finally to the small, pale boy standing next to the long-legged biology teacher.
"his name is jungwoo, he just moved here from seoul. please give him a warm welcome."
the smaller boy looked up, his soft hair moving out of the way and exposing his eyes. they moved around the classroom, as he appeared to be checking out the class, and- he could've sworn- they stopped on lucas for a millisecond before continuing to sweep the room.
"let's see," mr kim continued speaking, "there's only one empty seat, and it's near lucas, he sits right over there." the older man pointed out where lucas sat, and jungwoo's eyes landed once again on the boy.
as he made his way over, he gave a small smile, and lucas felt a soft, warm, feeling in his chest as he smiled back.
jungwoo sat down and folded his hands beneath his desk.
'cute,' lucas thought, smiling to himself.
"lucas, please see me after class, if you don't mind," mr kim spoke, the sentence being more of a statement than a suggestion.
he blinked, confused. had he done something wrong? he couldn't have, he was a good student for the most part, and he will be even more now, due to him being flustered by the delicate boy sitting next to him.
"of course, sir."

the bell rang, signaling the end of class. lucas gathered his things and walked to the front of class, where mr kim sat marking attendance. he looked up at lucas and smiled.
"don't worry, you're not in trouble. i was just wondering if you would mind showing jungwoo around school? he's new here, of course, and i feel it would be a nice gesture, a welcome, if you will."
lucas let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding, extremely relieved. he was sure he was going to be blamed for something he didn't do.
" i would love to sir," he smiled, and walked out of class.
"jungwoo!" lucas scans the hallway, looking for the telltale brown locks, and finally finds the boy talking to a freshman, probably asking for directions.
he looks over his shoulder and searched for the source of his name, smiling when he meets eyes with lucas.
"yes? i was just on my way to class." he kept on smiling while he said this, causing lucas to smile too- his smile was contagious.
"about that- mr kim asked me to show you around. i'm sure yours and my next teachers will understand if we take the next period to walk around?" he wasn't sure, in fact he was almost certain they wouldn't understand, but that didn't keep him from asking.
"yeah, sure. what lunch do you have?"
"um... i'm not sure, hold on," lucas unzipped his bookbag and got out his schedule, and read the paper. " i have lunch c, what about you?"
"oh, great! we have the same lunch," jungwoo blushed, not meaning to sound that enthusiastic. "it'll be easier that way, i mean."
.
they had finished their tour and sat in the empty lunchroom, talking about everything they could think of. it was jungwoo that noticed the snow falling first, and he quickly stood and hurried to the windows that made up most of one wall, his eyes lighting up in excitement.
lucas smiled to himself at the boy's excitement, and followed jungwoo into the court yard.
once outside, jungwoo looked up at the sky, his face split in a wide grin. he looked over at lucas and grabbed his hand, twirling him around and laughing at the snow flakes falling around them.
as if he suddenly realized what he was doing, jungwoo let go of lucas's hands and ran them through his hair, still awestruck by the falling snow.
he stayed like that for a minute, just staring at the sky, when he suddenly shivered, and lucas realized he was out here-in the snow-with just a long sleeved shirt.
without thinking, lucas shrugged his coat off, seeing as how he had a sweatshirt on underneath, and wrapped it around jungwoo.
the smaller boy seemed alarmed, though pleased, and smiled softly at lucas.
"thanks. are you sure you'll be warm enough though?" he asked, his eyebrows furrowed.
"of course," lucas lied, "i don't get cold very easily." he could already feel the cold biting through the thin sweatshirt.
jungwoo smiled and stuffed his hands in the pockets of lucas's jacket, and watched the snow fall next to him. they stood in comfortable silence before they heard the bell ring faintly from inside the building, signaling the end of their peaceful break.
as they walked back into the building, lucas couldn't help but wish their time outside could last a little longer.
A/N: oh my gosh that was such a relief! i have been wanting to write this fic for so long and i have actually been working on this first chapter for days now. i have big plans for the 3rd chapter, and i would put those plans in the first chapter, but it would be way too long, and then i would only have a couple chapters. thank you so much for reading! :)
