Charlotte sat with Mike and his friends during lunch, seeing a few familiar faces in the group. She heard almost the entire cafeteria gossiping about her at least some point through then lunch.
"I mean black skinny jeans are great with combat boots and a leather jacket. She drives a motorcycle but at least she could wear a white shirt or something. Not a black one!" Some girl complained. Charlotte tried not to smile at that but it was hard not to. Then she noticed the two boys she has classes with earlier, the vampires.
When a Fey child is born they are given to an older faerie who teaches them everything they need to know. The faerie the child is given to has to be the same type of faeire. Charlotte was born from the typhoon Charlotte near the Philippines in 1959. Fey folk are born from natural phenomenon such as rare eclipses, hurricanes (typhoons, and cyclones are the same things as hurricanes), earthquakes, and tsunamis. They are born from destruction. Charlotte was taught about other supernatural creatures, how to use fey magic, how to act like a faerie. The fey can't lie, so naturally they have to learn human nature, how to outsmart them.
They were sitting in the corner of the cafeteria, they weren't talking; they weren't eating, though they each had a tray of untouched food in front of them. But that didn't faze Charlotte, she knew what they fed on.
Charlotte had never seen a vampire before, just heard of them. Every one of them was chalky pale, the palest of all the students living in this sunless town. They all had very dark eyes despite the range in hair tones. They also had dark shadows under those eyes - purplish, bruise like shadows. Though their noses, all their features, were straight, perfect, angular.
"Who are they?" Charlotte asked the girl from her Spanish class, Jessica.
"That's Edward and Emmett Cullen, and Rosalie and Jasper Hale. Oh and Alice Cullen. They all live together with Dr. Cullen and his wife." She said this under her breath. "They're all together though - Emmett and Rosalie, and Edward and Alice, I mean. And they live together." Her voice held all the shock and condemnation of the small town.
"Have they always lived in Forks?" Charlotte asked already knowing the answer. Of course they could, they wouldn't age.
"No," she said in a voice that implied it should be obvious, even to a new arrival like Charlotte. "They just moved down two years ago from somewhere in Alaska."
"I've been to Alaska. I can tell why they left. Nothing but snow, and darkness." Charlotte said causally.
"I've been meaning to ask. Where are you from? I couldn't tell my your accent." All the heads at the table looked up actually quite interested.
"Oh, I grew up speaking another language. English is my second. Everyone tells me it sounds like a mix of a bunch of accents. I've never noticed. Is it as bad as I think it is?" Charlotte tried changing the subject with a weak smile.
"Oh no it's amazing." Mike smiled looking like a lost puppy.
"It has this fluidity to it. Like french but hard dictation like German." Someone Charlotte hadn't met yet chimed in. His name was Tyson. No... Tyler!
"But the vowels sound like Australian or British." Jessica nodded.
Across the cafeteria the Cullens were talking about Charlotte. They had passed her table on purpose to get a good look and smell of her. They all agreed, she was something different.
"But she doesn't have a heart beat! I'm telling you she isn't human!" Jasper urged.
"But her eyes! Her smell! She isn't one of us or a wolf!" Edward argued back.
"How would you explain the heart beat then?" Alice sighed.
"She knew I could hear her! She said it too quiet for a human to hear. I saw a spark of recognition when she saw me, but then it was gone." Jasper growled.
"So your saying you've seen her before?" Alice asked amused.
"No! I've never seen her!" Jasper sighed.
They watched as Charlotte got up from the table she was sitting at. Charlotte said something about the library and walked to the doors leading outside. Which was next to the Cullen table.
"She isn't a problem. We could easily take her, her size is half of Emmett's." Rosalie rolled her eyes. Charlotte who was still walking to the door heard the quiet remark. Angrily she willed the air inside of the Coke can in front of Rosalie to expand. The Cullens noted the storm color in Charlotte's eyes glow and churn like a storm was trapped in her eyes.
Rosalie screamed when the can of soda in front of her exploded getting all over her white shirt. Charlotte didn't stop to look, but the faint smirk on her lips was caught by the Cullens as she pushed through the doors. Though not looking directly at them Charlotte knew Rosalie was pissed.
\\\\\ it'll be kind of confusing about Charlotte's fairy background for a few chapters. but there will be one that literally explains everything I swear.
