Takes place after CoHF but before Lady Midnight (Dark Artifices). If it weren't for Magnus, Riley would have never thought a world like this existed. Sure, she'd read Harry Potter, but Downworld was completely different. Yes, there were also Werewolves in the wizarding world, but in this world Vampires, Fey Folk, Shadowhunters, demons, and, of course, Warlocks -like herself- existed as well. There was a huge problem in Downworld, though. There have been Warlocks dying left and right. All of them were murdered. Riley had no clue who it was that killed them, but she has no interest in finding out. Unfortunately for her, however, she didn't have a choice. While visiting Catarina Loss to learn a new spell, the thing shows up and it kills Catarina right in front of her eyes. It sent demons after her and that's where this story starts. ... Kendrin (God of death and sorrow), craves ultimate power in the heavens. His followers will stop at nothing to covert or kill any who do not contribute their prayers to this cause.
