The screeches and the moans always gave me goose-bumps, no matter how many times I heard them. Every time I stepped onto my front yard, I heard them loud and clear.

Zombies. Zombies are here, and they hunger for the flesh of unsuspecting humans. They are always here, and they will probably never leave. After all the life on earth is gone, they will probably feast on each other, since it will be their only source of food.

I am now all alone in my own home town because of the beasts. No one near or around my location. Absolutely no one.

I am the only survivor. That is my worst fear.

That I am the last human in existence. That I will never see another pure, innocent human face, ever again.

  CHAPTER ONE: The Lone Survivor

From the time I open my eyes, to the time I fall asleep, I am always on guard.

The zombies are getting stronger, hungrier, and smarter. I might not make it past the month.

They went from a brainless, clueless thing, to an IQ as high as a dog, and as strong as a horse. They will get me, the last meal for miles, if I don’t leave soon.

The only weapons I have are some throwing knives, a shotgun, and a small pistol. I am running low on ammo, and I only have ten throwing knives. It sounds like a lot, but it is not that much when you are dealing with a range of twenty to forty-something zombies.

At night, they all stay around my house, beating on the doors, and windows, trying to get in to me. They never have entered my home, but I am so scared that one night, while I’m asleep, they will eventually bust the door down, and get me, while I am so vulnerable.

I always try to kill some zombies as target practice off of my roof. They never really expect it, so I can get a couple. I am getting better, and I now can kill several by shooting them in the back of the head, or whenever they look at me, between their eyes. But since I ran out of ammo, I can no longer do any of that.

I have only seen several survivors, but they always end up dead. I am alone.
