Snape had actually offered me some time off from my studies, you know considering what happened the previous night, but I kindly told him I'd rather stay in my classes and keep my mind occupied. But while in class I caught myself staring at Draco, like a lot. It was embarrassing, really, because he almost caught me once which made my cheeks turn as red as tomatoes. I was slowly starting to realize that maybe I was avoiding the slight possibility that I was starting to develop a crush on Draco bloody Malfoy of all people. But I couldn't really tell because I had never had a crush on anyone before, like ever.
All the classes flew by and I was so ready for the weekend to start. The past week had been a roller coaster of emotions to say the least. I was sorted into Slytherin, went from Draco's slave to friend, was assaulted in Hogsmeade, found a dead rat in my bed, dueled Harry, got sent to the hospital wing again, and just to top it all off, I was almost murdered. Made me wonder what the rest of the school year had to offer to be honest.
Tracey and I made our way back to our dormitory after eating supper in the Great Hall and since the weekend had started I changed out of my school outfit into my black sweater and denim jeans. I kicked away my shoes and jumped down flat on the bed as I closed my eyes taking a deep breath. But then the light above me was blocked and I opened my eyes to see Tracey grinning intensely over me. I raised an eyebrow at her but it didn't stop her grin which got me feeling curious.
"What?" I asked and she crossed her arms while smirking.
"Spill it, I want every detail." she said hastily and I chuckled at her as I sat back up. I let my feet hang off the side of the bed as I leaned forward resting my hands in my lap.
"About what?" I wondered. She threw her hands out as she rolled her eyes at my question.
"About Draco of course! I know you two snuck out last night." she said and my eyes widened as a my body tensed up.
"Shh! Keep your voice down!" I said with a hint of panic as I threw a quick look around the room worrying that someone might have overheard her. She wasn't exactly the most discreet person I knew. For example if you had a booger up your nose you could possibly be a victim of her pointing it out loud in the middle breakfast, yeah, not so fun I tell you.
"Aha! So you're not denying it?" she snapped her finger at me. I had my mouth open trying to find the right words to defend myself, but then I sighed.
"How did you find out?" I asked and accepted my defeat.
"I was on my way down to the common room get a book to read since I couldn't sleep, and then I saw you guys cozy up by the fire. Not bad Katherine, sure it's a bit of a teenage clichè standing in front of a fire and all that, but I'll take it." she said and I shook my head in frustration.
"No, you've got it all wrong. Like seriously wrong. Yes I snuck out to meet Draco by the Astronomy tower, but it turned out to be Justin Parkinson who had used Polyjuice Potion so he could trick me up there." I explained, but Tracey didn't seem convinced.
"What? Why would Justin Parkinson want to trick you up there?" she asked and I took a deep breath before looking up at her.
"To murder me." I said and Tracey's jaw almost dropped to the floor.
"Wait what?" she gasped and jumped down beside me as she grabbed my hand into hers, "Tell me everything." she said, and so I did. I couldn't count how many times she gasped during the story, but at the end she looked pretty shocked, but mostly angry. You could tell because her face turned red and steam was basically about to blast out of her ears.
"That little prick!" she snapped with her fists tightened before she calmed down, "It all makes sense now. Of course it had to be him, I mean he's pulled the most twisted pranks on people this school has ever seen, even worse than Fred and George. He's mental I tell you!" she said waving her hands around in frustration. But then she took a deep breath as she looked up at me.
