Chapter Twenty Nine: A lovey dinner

After spending the next hours walking around the mansion and just talking, it was time to get ready for the dinner Narcissa had planned for us. So I went to my room to take a long shower and chuckled as a piece of food fell out of my hair after my food fight with Draco. It was still an odd feeling for me that we we were actually friends and that I was visiting his home, but I had such a blast around him. And that was so strange because if someone would have told me that the infamous Draco Malfoy that basically ruled the school would one day be one of my closest friends, I would never have believed them.

I wrapped a towel around my wet body and made my way into the bedroom when I stopped in my tracks. I squinted my eyes for a brief second before gasping out loud and throwing my hand over my mouth as I did it. On the bed laid one of the most beautiful dresses I had ever seen in my entire life! I was so quick to rush over that I almost dropped the towel off my body. I stopped and held it up as my jaw dropped. It was a long maxi dress made of a light green satin fabric. I let my fingers slide across the dress as a smile grew on my face.

"Do you like it, miss?" Moby asked as he approached me. I turned to him and my smile got even wider.

"I love it! Is it Narcissa's?" I asked and Moby smiled kindly.

"No, the Mrs got it for you to wear for the dinner." he explained and I looked at the dress.

"That's so kind of her."

Moby nodded his head in an almost nervous motion.

"Yes..Mrs Malfoy is very..kind." he hesitated which made me look at him strangely, and he noticed because his eyes quickly widened.

"And Elf is very happy for her kindness, I swear!," he almost panicked, and I didn't even manage to reply before he said, "The dinner will be ready in about an hour." and vanished out of the door. I was left a bit thoughtful, why was he always so on edge when it came to the Malfoys?

I put on a bit more makeup that I usually would wear which was just mascara and lipgloss. But I decided to add some eyeliner, eyeshadow and a darker nude lipstick. I tried to put some curls into my ends and when I looked at myself in the mirror, I was unrecognizable. But it was fun to try something different for a change and hopefully it would impress the Malfoys a bit. They were always so well dressed and always looking presentable. Me on the other hand, not exactly. 

I made my way down the grand stairs and found my way against the dining room. I took a deep breath before opening the door and entering with a smile. Narcissa and Lucius were sitting by the table talking, but the second I walked inside Lucius stopped and looked over at me. Draco noticed this and turned his head around, but not a second later his eyes got so wide I was afraid I looked foolish.

"Is..is there something on my face?" I asked nervously as I held a hand to my face.

"No, no you just, you look so.."-"He's trying to say you look stunning, Katherine." Narcissa said which put a smile on my face.

"Thank you! And also thank you so much for the dress, but I can't possibly accept it." I said feeling like this dress alone was worth far more than everything I owned combined.

"Don't be so humble, dear. It's a gift. Now sit, dinner is about to be served." she said and I nodded as I made my way over to Draco and sat down by the empty seat beside him. His eyes never left me and he seemed rather baffled about seeing me in a dress.

"You look like you've seen a Werewolf or something." I whispered to him and he slightly shook his head.

"Sorry, you just..," he said and looked at me for a second before he pulled a warm smile, "You look great."
