It's something I heard of a long while ago and was excited to see it in action: Anti-Gravity Races. Hovering Racing ships driving along a racetrack at very high speeds, and even flying up or down vertically. In my opinion, this type of sport is one of the most exciting ones, along Rocket-powered Car Soccer.
Today me and my best friend, Jack, went to the Altima racetrack to see one of these races. Our seats are not in the bows around the big drop, but at the top just before it goes down. We have a really good view, and that part is the best one of the whole track.
I know Jack for 35 years now. He's a nice and gentle man, a bit shy as well, and apparently cursed with bad luck. But I don't mind that at all, even tough others back when we were at the Zoophoenix Academy said that his curse also affects people around him. I'm a bit unlucky myself anyways, and we're both immortal, so we should be good.I come back to where we have our seats, and where Jack is sitting. "Isn't that one Feisar Prototype driving for the first time today?", Jack said as I sat down next to him. "Yep", I answer, and smile at him "We're lucky to see it". "Me? Lucky?", Jack joked and chuckled. I smirk shyly and say "Well, y-you're lucky that we met each other back when we younger". Jack glances at me and smiles slightly with a bit of a blushy face.
"what was the name of the prototype again?" he asked me a bit later. "I don't think it has a name yet. tough I heard that it's named Prototype 4b." "And the driver? I think he's an anthro, isn't he?" After a bit of thinking I remember his name. "Yeah, his name's David Malagan, from Ireland."We can hear the turbines and engines of the ships hauling up as the countdown begins. we stand up to see the ships come around the corner. "There it is!" Jack yells in slight excitement, as the prototype drives past us. it was mainly in orange, which is unusual since the colors of Feisar are blue and yellow. it looked a bit hefty, but also agile, so it seems like Feisar tried to make a ship that's robust and also fast and agile enough at the same time. Usually, that's what Qirex ships make, but seeing something like this from Feisar is quite interesting.
A hauling of the ships can be heard again, as the ships proceed to the second lap.
But before the prototype made it to the drop
a laser shot of a rifle can be seen
hitting the prototype in the anti-gravity generator.
it tumbles,
falls down the drop,
bursts up in flames,
and crashes onto the ground.
Screams and gasps can be heard from the audience, and the other ships try to avoid the shipwreck, nearly crashing into it. A few seconds later, the red flag, the race is canceled. As the rescue ship rushes down to the wreck, I and Jack are leaning over, shocked, and Jack shaking a bit.
Speechless.
Not knowing if David Malagan survived.
