The Careless Planet

Preface

My name is Flo, I am 126 years old, and I am the last pure human left in the universe. 

I was born in the year 2972, the year before earth was rendered 'unliveable for all life'. So, when I was 1 year old, what was left of the human race where bundled up and sent to live on Pelrora, a medium sized planet in the Flydorahora Galaxy. 

Since then, all other humans have died out or bread with other non-human species, im the only true human left. I also obsess over earth, trying to find the exact even that lead to the earths downfall. Here is a summary of my findings:

Research findings

It all started to go wrong in the 1900's when plastic was first invented. As it gained popularity, it was produced in larger amounts untill in 2018 the population produced 300 million tones of plastic and 8 tones of that was dropped into the oceans. 

There was massive amounts of plastic dropped into the ocean, this resulted in many animals eating or getting caught by plastic. From 2000 to 2400 around 800 species of marine life where declared extinct. This was the downfall for many oceanic ecosystems because without the correct animals in the food chain, some species populated and some died from lack of food. 

Things whereat fairing any better on land. Climate change had lead to major sea level rise and from 2000 2300 the sea levels had risen by 2 meters. Due to deforestation, many animals where going extinct, and the humans just didnt care. 

I believe that humans lack of care for the environment and their actions as the downfall of the earth. We didnt take any worthwhile actions to prevent climate change or pollution. The only thing that we cared about was ourselves. And Due to the large population crisis of 2360 (where the population rose so high in such a short time, and there simply wasn't enough food to feed everybody) Humans began focusing on only one thing, their survival. Our selfish, human-centric ways has lead to this, we where blind to the consequences and now we pay the price...

Our survival could cost the earth, in fact, it already has.
