I love myself,
that isn't wrong,
it only is my reflection, after all.

and in the cool mirror water,
truth floats to the surface like so many
dead fish,
so I know that what I see is real.

none in the world can compare to me,
not even the famed beauty of the love goddess.

none in the world can love me save for
myself,
for my lovely visage is for mine eyes alone.

yes, yes, I will sacrifice myself to hades,
for only in death will I be safe from
onlookers who wish to steal
my beauty.
