A/N: Okay so, you guys, in the prologue, I mentioned that Adam's mother's words kept playing in Angie's head over and over again. Well, I've edited that part. It's Angie's mother's words. Not Adam's. Just so there isn't any kind of confusion. Happy Reading! :) x

I stared at the ground, unsure of what I had just heard.

Adam. My Adam, the one who had kissed me good night just 7 hours ago, the one who was the reason I had gone to sleep with a smile on my face, had been shot.

I recovered from my initial state of shock but refused to move from my current position. Instead, I looked up at my mother, whose eyes were filled with tears that were slowly running down her cheeks.

"Why?" I asked, my voice barely audible.

My mother didn't answer me. Instead, she turned to Lidia, Adam's mother who was sitting beside her, looking for an answer.

"The police don't know why. Th-They're still trying to figure it out." she answered me, between sobs.

"Who reported the murder?" I asked, gaining the strength to speak now.

"It, um, happened in front of a police officer." she replied.

"What?!" I asked, jumping to my feet.

Everyone looked at me as if they were surprised by my reaction.

"What? You guys don't think that's weird?" I asked them, wondering why they didn't find it strange at all.

"Honey, he wasn't just standing and watching. His name is Drew. He said that he was driving by and noticed two men, boys rather, huddled around someone. He got out of his car and started approaching them but when the boys noticed him, they shot Adam once in the chest and fled the scene. The officer started to run behind them but decided against it. He figured it would be better to help Adam, instead. But by the time the ambulance got there, it was too late." said my father.

"Oh." I managed to say.

Just then, Lidia's phone rang and she spoke into it. After a 5 minute conversation with the person on the other end of the line, she turned to me.

"They have something of Adam's that they want me to collect and, um, they asked me to bring you along." She said.

The car ride to the police station was silent. I sat in the passenger seat of Lidia's red Porsche and gazed out the window, in thought.

Why would the police want to meet me? How did they know my name? I've never even been to the police station and I don't know any of the officers.

Mrs. Samuels' voice, snapped me out of my thoughts.

"We're here." She said.

We got out of the car and walked towards a large grey building. We entered, to find cops running around talking amongst themselves. I followed Lidia to the front desk. An old woman wearing a cop uniform looked up at us from behind her desk. Her name tag read 'Patty Jenkins'.

"Hey, how can I help you? she asked, sounding incredibly bored.

"Um, we're here to speak to Officer Drew. I'm Lidia Samuels. My son was shot last night. Mr.Drew said that he had something for us?" Lidia replied.

"Oh you're Adam's mother?" Patty asked.

"Yes, that's right."

"Take a seat." Patty said, bluntly. No 'I'm sorry for your loss', no 'I'm sure he was a good kid.', no smile, no nothing. I mean, it's not like I was expecting her to treat us like royalty but this woman's son was shot last night. A little sympathy wouldn't hurt.
