"Shit shit shit!" I swore, as the first bell of the day rang.
I could NOT afford another detention just for being late to school. It wasn't really my fault, though. On my 16th birthday, which was just two months ago, my parents gifted me a car. Well, that's what they called it. To me, it was just a lump of rusted metal. It was an old jeep and when my parents gifted it to me, I was pretty darn excited. It was my first car, after all. But after using it a couple of times, I realised that it was going to be the reason I got detention every day of the week. But I never got around to buying a new car even after a year because I couldn't afford it.
I was running down the hallway to my English class, when I ran into something hard which caused me to lose my balance and land hard on my butt. I frowned and looked up to find the most amazing pair of blue eyes staring down at me, filled with amusement. I stared back, completely mesmerised by them.
The sound of someone clearing their throat snapped me out of my thoughts and I realised that I had been staring at those eyes for longer than needed.I then stopped focusing only on the guy's eyes and stared at his face, which wasn't really helping me because he was cute. Really cute. I felt my cheeks heat up as the said-guy raised his hand forward to help me up, smirking at my expression. I managed to get back on my feet without embarrassing myself.
"Um, thanks," I said, avoiding eye contact.
"Yeah, no problem," replied a low, sexy voice.
Still avoiding his gaze, I continued walking to the classroom but for some reason, I really wanted to look into those eyes again. I turned around and found him staring at me. I felt like I'd been caught committing a serious crime and turned back around, walking briskly to the classroom.
Once I entered, I found my English teacher, Mr. Alexander, shaking his head at me disapprovingly.
"Well, Angela, care to explain why you're so late?" he asked me, sounding slightly annoyed. I couldn't blame him, though. This wasn't the first time I was late to his class.
"I am so sorry, Mr.drew! It really isn't my fault! You know how my parents bought me a car just two months back? Well, it isn't really the best car in the whole wide world and even though i'm very thankful for it, it just really sucks and I can't afford to buy a new car at the moment. And that's the reason i'm always late. And meeting the blue-eyed cutey in the hallway today didn't really help my case either. I mean, he just had the most amazing eyes ever and it was kind of hard to not get lost in them, you know? But i'm very sorry and I promise i'll try my best for this to not happen again. Just please don't give me detention. Please please please!" I said, barely taking a breath.
Once I ended my rant, I found my teacher staring at me, clearly amused. I suddenly became very aware of my sorroundings and of the fact that the entire class was staring at me, trying to control their laughter. This included my best friend Hayley. And then it struck me. I had just spoken to my teacher about the cute guy, hadn't I?
Kill me now.
"So, you were late because of a boy?" he asked, smirking and shaking his head in fake disapproval.
Mr. Drew was the youngest teacher in our school. Probably just 23. And dare I say it, he was hot. But I wasn't really into the whole student-teacher dating thing so I didn't bother crushing on him either. So, that was probably the reason for his cool attitude. He had never given me detention for being late to his class but this was probably the 10th time and I wasn't too sure if he was going to let me off that easily.
"Uhm, well, it's not exactly what you think. It's just that I..um, I bumped into him and umm.." I started rambling but gave up eventually, knowing that I was only making a complete fool of myself.
