Her Secret (VJoy)

Prologue

Do you know how your life becomes so colorful when all this time, it's been so dull? My life was like that.

At the age of 8, my life has always been dull but it was also that age that it became so colorful.

When I met him.

Since then, I've kept a secret.

"Why are you looking down? Are you sad?" A kid asked to a girl who's sitting on the swing.

Sooyoung looked up and saw a kid her age looking down at her, he's wearing a coat that only people with lots of money could afford? How she knew it was expensive, she just knew. Because her mother doesn't have money to buy her coat when spring comes, she got used at the cold as well as her heart. She's just a kid but she already thought of running away from home.

"Wae? Are you going to play with me?" She asked not wanting to go home yet. Her mother is drinking again, she doesn't know why.

"Will you be happy if I play with you? You won't be sad anymore?"

Sooyoung nodded immediately.

The kid smiled at her offering his hand. "Before that, let's exchange our names, I'm Kim Taehyung, you? My family is new here, let's be friends."

Sooyoung stared at his hand wondering what it was for, she looked up and saw him urging her to hold it. Confused, she held his hand lightly, Taehyung held her hand tightly and shake her hand.

"Can't you speak?"

Sooyoung shake her head. "I... can."

The kid beamed a smile at her. "Then what's your name?" Sooyoung was about to reply but Taehyung interrupted her. " Because you look sad I'll call you Joy from now on."

"Joy..." She muttered. Joy... It sounds like a happy name, she smiled. She likes it.

"See? You have a beautiful smile, you can't be sad from now on okay?"

Joy nodded still smiling, her heart was filled with warmth with his smile and his warm hand on hers. Her sorrounding was filled with different colors, it was beautiful. She never knew that the world was this colorful until now.

And so, they played all day. The young Joy laughed for the first time in her life, she had no friends because she doesn't go to school and didn't know what it was like to enjoy herself.

It was late in the afternoon that Taehyung said goodbye and saw Joy's sad face, a thought came to his mind litting his face up.

"Why don't we play some more in our home? My house isn't far from here."

Joy's face brighten up. "Really?" She remembered her mother. "No, I have to go home..." She said downcasted. She have to cook rice or else her mother will get angry again.

Taehyung then felt sad. "Where's your house? Is it far?"

Joy shake her head, she pointed an alley that goes to houses that had worn out buildings where she and her mother stays in.

Taehyung smiled. "It's not that far, we can see each other here everyday."

"You... will?" Joy was confused why someone like him would play with the likes of her, for some reason, kids her age doesn't want to play with her.

"Of course! Don't you want to play with me?"

Joy smiled widely shaking her head. "I want to!"

Taehyung mirrored the same expression as hers. "It's a promise then!" Taehyung said showing his pinky finger.

Joy doesn't know anything but she does know what it means, it was nostalgic, as if she's done it before, for many times. She linked her finger with his.

Shaking their fingers together, they said their promise, stamped and coppied.

It was the start of their strong bond and friendship.
