Jamie makes her way down to the restaurant where Latrice was waiting. She sees Latrice looking worn sitting at a table by herself. "Latrice what's up? Look at you, what's wrong?" Almost instantly, tears began to fall from Latrice's eyes. Jamie grabs her hand and asks, "What's wrong? What happenedy?" "He raped me. I can't believe that he raped me." Latrice cried. "Who? Who raped you Latrice? Who?" Jamie asked. "Nnnn...Nelson raped me!" Latrice answered. Jamie sat stunned not knowing what to say. Jamie's mind flashed back to when she, Diamond and Nelson were in the motel room. Jamie tried to think if she saw rape as a possibility where Nelson was concerned.
You see Jamie has had several rape experiences. She was first raped by her father as a child, again by her older brother some years later, and she was also raped by one of the supervisors in a group home where she was placed. As Jamie thought about it, she couldn't think of anything in Nelson's behavior that would make her think he would do something like that.
"Why did he do that? Has he ever acted like that before? Is he losing his mind?" Jamie asked. "He was drunk and high! When you dropped me off, he was high then. He wanted to have sex. I wasn't into it like he wanted me to be. So he took it like he wanted to have it." Latrice said. Jamie gave Latrice a hug, and in that moment she was ashamed for having sex with Nelson behind Latrice's back. Jamie felt so sorry for Latrice. Jamie knows what being raped is like. A violation she would not wish on anybody. Jamie takes Latrice back to her house. Latrice was crying, hurt, embarrassed and very tired. With Jamie holding her, Latrice cried herself to sleep.
At the same time, Nelson sees that Latrice is not in the bed next to him and goes through the house trying to find her. He calls her phone...no answer. He throws on his clothes, gets in his car and goes looking for her in the neighborhood. He goes back over to the area where he picked her up last time she ran away from him. Though he knows Jamie lives somewhere in the area, he has no idea which house. He calls his friends, frantically asking them to help him find her. Though he was high, he remembers what he did to Latrice. He knows he took it from her. He knows he raped her and he remembers her crying as he fell asleep. He knows he may have lost her for good and he wasn't going to have it. He had to find her.
