I couldn't understand. This boy, who I've never met before, just told me not to trust the person who treats me like a god. "What do you mean?" I asked him.

"I mean, she is evil. She kills subjects who don't follow her. She tortures them to summon this being, that she worships. You were that being. And now you have arrived, she will treat you like royalty, but only you. If she finds me down here, I will die too." Kit explained. He seemed genuine, but I've been lied to before.

"Kit, is it? How do I know I can trust you?" He smiled at me, leading me towards a rusty door on the opposite side of the room. The new room was pitch black, the only light coming from a large screen, centred against the wall.

I looked towards him, noticing a small remote in his grasp. He tapped one of the buttons, and a video started playing on the screen, being recorded from what looks like a security camera in the corner of the church.

A man in a hood was being dragged up towards the altar, by Goddess. She dropped him in front of the whole church, letting them watch. This man staggered onto his knees, and started praying at her feet. She whispered something inaudible into his ear, and he started screaming. Suddenly, his head exploded, spraying blood everywhere. Goddess removed her hood, revealing her face was also covered in blood.

I covered my mouth, very close to emptying my guts there and then. "Oh my gosh..." I whispered.

"Do you see what I mean? All he did was speak to someone, asking if what Goddess was doing was right. Do you want to see more examples?" I instantly shook my head, I had no words to say. "Good, now you know you can trust me. The only thing is, you can take her down, not me. I'm not strong enough. Are you in?"

"Definitely. Where do we start?"

I climbed out of the bunker, followed by Kit. He had put back on his robes, so he didn't stand out. Making sure nobody was around to witness, I closed the bunker door, and now it looked like a regular grave.

"Do you have a codename so I don't reveal who you are?" I asked, only just remembering.

"Ha, yeah. Thought you'd never ask. Call me Atone, because I atone for people's sins. How about you?"

"Styx. It's the river that decides whether a person goes to hell or not. And Goddess sure is going to hell." I smirked. He nodded back, and we made our way inside the church. Opening the giant wooden doors, we found that the acolytes were doing there own thing. Talking, reading, praying etc. Goddess was sat at the opposite side of the church, at the altar.

"Goddess!" I shouted. Atone understood my signal and moved into a crowd of hoods.

Goddess looked up and smiled, standing up. "Everyone. The chosen one has returned. Make her feel welcomed."

"No. Stop this at once." I spoke, my voice quivered, but I held my ground.

"Oh, Stop what? Stop giving people hope? Stop helping people? Stop worshiping you as a god?" She kept the sly smile on her face, thinking she could out-wit me.

"I mean, stop acting like your the god. You kill people for stepping out of line. Gods or goddesses don't use their powers to kill. Which... which is why I'm not a god."
