Jungwoo felt awful. Guilt plagued his insides as he got up from his cold, empty bed. He checked his phone and as expected, there was nothing from Lucas.

He should be used to this by now.

Jungwoo got ready for the day, throwing on some comfortable clothes to fit the fall weather outside. He decided to go to a coffee shop near the apartment to be productive and get some homework done before class and work.

He entered the tiny place, the strong smell of coffee beans hitting his nostrils. He ordered a cup of coffee before settling at a table in the corner, pulling out his laptop and getting to work.

"Jungwoo,"

The male's head snapped up at the call of his name, meeting a pair of eyes.

"Doyoung?" he asked at a rather low volume, surprised to see the boy. Doyoung sat in the seat across from the other, resting his chin on his palm.

"Doing some homework?" he asked Jungwoo.

Jungwoo sighed, lifting his eyes from his laptop screen to look at his friend. "Yeah." he answered, bringing the coffee cup to his lips.

"You're drinking coffee? I thought you hated it?" Doyoung furrowed his eyebrows.

"I've just been-" the other hesitated. "- stressed."

"Is everything alright Jungwoo?"

Jungwoo's lips parted, as he was gonna reply to the question. Then he quickly pressed his lips together, eyes darting down to his keyboard. "Not really." he admitted, almost inaudibly.

Doyoung leaned forward, enough so he could pat his friend's shoulder in a comforting way. "I can tell you're a little off." he remarked, tilting his head. "Do you wanna talk about it?"

Jungwoo closed his laptop, pushing all his school materials to the side. His previously intended productivity session was now turning into personal therapy.

"I got mad at Lucas last night." he started, inhaling deeply. "It was our anniversary yesterday. I thought he forgot about it, and I got really sad and kinda frustrated. He came back to the apartment later than usual, and told me he didn't mean to forget. But I snapped at him and walked away." Jungwoo lowered his head.

Doyoung's expression fell as he heard the news.

"I feel really bad about it." Jungwoo exhaled sadly. "I didn't mean to do that."

"How did you snap at him exactly?" the older male questioned.

"He said he didn't mean to forget about our anniversary, as I said previously. I told him I knew he didn't mean to, but then I said 'but you still did' and stormed off." Jungwoo's voice broke as the last sentence rolled off his tongue.

Doyoung nodded, rubbing his friend's shoulder again. "I suggest you apologize to him."

Jungwoo agreed to that.

Jungwoo waited, eyelids heavy as he laid on the couch, not focusing on some baking show playing on the television.

He yawned, checking his phone for the time - it was almost ‪11pm‬.

Lucas should of been here by now.

He sat up, rubbing his eyes lazily. He started to think about how he was going to apologize, going through possible scenarios in his head.

It's not first time they've been in a fight, nor the first time Jungwoo has apologized to Lucas for something major like this. But since they've been distant lately, nervousness settled at the pit of the boy's stomach.

He waited and waited, trying so hard to fight off his sleepiness.

But Lucas never came.
