Note: This takes place from the episode when Monica died, but everyone was a bit younger than in the actual episode, and mickey never went to prison or broke out and ran away to Mexico. And Monica's death takes place in the middle of the night instead of morning. sorry for the weird changes and this one is kind of bad. i wrote it in a rush at like 5 in the morning. Thanks for reading though :)

Ian Gallagher and Mickey Milkovich have been good friends for the past couple of years now, they met because Ian was pretend dating Mickeys sister Mandy, the reason they were pretending was to cover up the fact that Ian is gay. Mickey recently found this out. When Ian told mickey this, he was terrified one of his best friends would hate him, but to his surprise not only was Mickey ok with the news but he even told Ian he was gay as well. Of course, he added in a "if you tell anyone I'll cut you" but Ian knew that wasn't true. Mickey has been there for Ian a lot since they've gotten close and vice versa.

One-night Monica, Ian's mom had come home and was being, well... being Monica and Ian just wasn't in the mood for it so Mickey decided it would be better to take Ian somewhere else for the time being. They had gone to the football field and sat there for hours and talked, drank some beers that Mickey snuck from home, and they just had fun, it took Ian's mind off of his crazy mom being home again. By the time they were ready to go home it was 1 in the morning, Mickey walked home and Ian went his own way home after they said their goodbyes. On the walk home Ian kept thinking about Mickey, he was lucky to have a friend like him. Most people wouldn't have stayed out until past midnight just to keep a friend from having to be home, especially when it was getting pretty damn cold out. When Ian got home all of the lights were off so he assumed everyone was asleep "Thank god" he mumbles to himself as he creeps in the front door. The place was a mess, there were cups laying everywhere and garbage and food, they must've had a party, Kev and V were passed out on the living room floor and on the other side of the room was Frank and Monica sleeping next to each other on the floor as well, he couldn't help but smile to himself, his family may drive him crazy but he did love them. He creeped his way up the stairs to the bedroom trying not to wake anyone. Ian kicked off his shoes, then pulled his shirt over his head a threw on some sweat pants and a t-shirt, then climbed into his bed and pulled the soft blankets all the way up to his chin and drifted off to sleep.

Back downstairs Frank had just woken up, it was nearly 3 in the morning. He stood up with a groan and grabbed a beer and took a big gulp off of it not caring who's it might've been. He then took a piss and walked back over to where him and Monica were sleeping. He wanted to wake her up so they could go to sleep in a bed rather than the floor. Even if it meant kicking someone else out of their bed to take it over. "Mon, wake up" he said bending down to lightly shake her shoulder. No response so he shook her a little bit harder and said "Wakey Wakey" shaking her even harder. She still didn't respond so frank started shaking her harder and repeating "wake up" "come on, wake up Monica" but she wouldn't. before he knew it he was yelling for her to wake up all while sobbing. He knew she wasn't going to.

Ian didn't get much sleep before he was awoken to the sound of someone yelling from downstairs. Suddenly him and all of his siblings were awake and running downstairs. What he didn't expect to see was Frank on his knees next to Monica who was not responding to Frank, her body still and stiff and her eyes shut. Right then Ian knew she had passed, he didn't know what to do, he just stood there as Fiona called the police and Lip got Debbie, Carl and Liam back upstairs so they didn't have to see anymore. But Ian, he just stood there. He could feel the tears in his eyes and soon he realized he was bolting out the door and down the street with Fiona yelling after him. He wasn't sure where he was going until he ended up on the Milkovich door step pounding on the door. He just needed to see one of his best friends, he doesn't care which one. Although he was relieved to see Mickey standing there, half awake and looking pissed "What the fuck Gallagher? Its three in the morning" Ian was still trying to catch his breath, that's when Mickey took a better look at Ian and noticed he was only in his PJ's, socks but no shoes and a thin t-shirt. He must be freezing, his eyes red and face streaked with fresh tears. Mickey grabbed Ian and pulled him inside as fast as he could, brought him to his room, made him sit on the bed and wrapped him in a blanket. Then left the room, but he was back within 60 seconds with tissues and Mandy. They both sat down next to him "Ian, what happened?" Mandy asked in a quiet tone as if she would hurt him any more if she spoke to loud, but just then Ian started sobbing again. Mickey wrapped his arms around Ian and let him cry into his chest. After about 10 minutes of the Milkovich siblings trying to comfort their friend he finally, with a shaky voice, spoke up "Monica just died. I watched frank try to wake her up, for like 5 whole minutes. But I knew she wouldn't wake up. But I watched, hoping she would open her eyes. I couldn't even move" Mandy's eyes went a little wider and Mickey hugged him even tighter. After a while Ian had calmed down but was still holding onto Mickey. Mandy finally broke the silence "is he still awake?" Mickey tilted his head down a bit and moved his arm which was covering Ian's face from being seen. "yeah, I can handle him from here, go ahead and get some sleep" he told Mandy, she looked pretty tired still. Yeah, Mickey was tired too but he was more worried about Ian, he loved Ian, even if he had never told him, and he hated seeing the normally happy bubbly red head so sad and broken. Mickey knew even though Monica was always in and out, her and Ian still had some sort of bond, at least something compared to what she had with her other kids. "are you sure?" Mandy asked snapping Mickey out of his trance. All he could do was nod. Once his sister had left the room Mickey slowly tried to pull himself away from Ian without waking him but the boy started to stir, so all he could really do was lay down with Ian still in his arms. "I could get use to this" he softly says, thinking out loud. Although Ian had a rough night, he slept soundly for the rest of it, being there with his best friend and the man he realized he was in love with. The next few months or so were rough for Ian but Mickey and Mandy were right by his side. Hell, Mickey hadn't even left his side, and that was something Ian could get use to.
