Sickness

Opal lied on the roof of the apartment. She didn't want to leave but she didn't want to stay either. She knew Sky would come after her because that's the kind of person she was. Opal was confused and felt pretty sick to her stomach. She covered her face thinking about what she did, and felt even worse by the second. The Inkling pulled her hands away and looked off the edge of the roof. Staring down below, she saw Sky and the other Octolings. They were all being welcomed but also gave a concerned gaze. They must've been looking for her.

Opal tried to ignore it, but she couldn't. She was upset at herself and didn't want to show it, she never showed it. She was always the best at what she did and how she did it, she wasn't down to disappoint. She wanted to kill those Octolings but she also didn't. She was sure her grandfather was upset at her now and was disappointed in her. Her only goal was to make him happy but she can't fix that now. Opal held her 4K close cherishing memories. She felt so much regret and didn't want to tell. It would just make her weaker and she didn't want that to be the outcome of the situation. She knew Sky would just pity her because that's what nice people do, but she didn't want pity or else it would just make her even more upset. She wanted to apologize even though she didn't do a single thing wrong.

Before Opal could finish off her next thought, she heard Sky yelling for her along with a variety of other voices. She stared down at the crowd upset. She didn't want to come down or else she would end up doing something else she'd regret. She didn't want to make anyone else upset, she only wanted the pain to target her and no one else. She never realized how much she cared but the more she thought about it the faster her tears began to form again.

After about ten minutes one of the Octolings had found Opal on the roof. Opal ignored them as she felt their uncertainty and fear. They were still slightly afraid of her, afraid of what she would do if they upset her. As Opal heard them take smaller and smaller steps closer she broke the silence.

"What do you want?" she asked.

"S-Sky was looking for you so I helped and I found you, even though I doubted I would." the Octo responded feeling very nervous.

"Why does she want me anyway? I let her have her fun and I let you guys live, she shouldn't be bothering me anymore!" Opal shot back at the innocent Octoling behind her.

"S-Sorry, she was just worried about you." the Octoling quickly responded holding back tears.

Opal turned to face the Octoling with a faded redness in her eyes. The Octoling froze sensing Opal's pain and heartbreak. Feeling worse and worse Opal quickly got up hoisting the 4K standing up and down. She slid her foot backwards and forcefully slinging it forward kicking it creating a large dent. The Octoling stared in shock at what was happening. A heavy sniper weapon like that was really tough and nobody would ever be able to do that much damage to it. Watching Opal easily kick it, almost breaking it, it was insane. The Octoling felt worse as she watched Opal let out her anger and frustration. She didn't stare at a regular Inkling, but a girl who didn't know how to talk about what she was feeling. Opal gave deep breaths before each kick trying to get rid of what she was feeling. She wasn't just a mute but somebody who had a raging heart that couldn't let out what it was feeling. The Octoling stared for a while with a gaze of concern. Lastly, Opal grabbed it by the barrel and slammed it onto the ground completely damaging her grandfather's gift to her. The gift of wanting to be a sniper. The gift of striving to be better. He had gotten her a 3K when she was little, and by the time she was 15 she had bought her own 4K and made him proud (hopefully). She despised herself and everything she did. She never wanted to touch another charger in her life ever again.

As she turned back towards the Octoling the redness was bright but fading again. She breathed heavily in frustration as she walked off of the roof. She didn't want to see Sky but she knew that she'd have to because Sky was so determined. She knew that if she left, Sky would just come after her over and over again. She could never escape that Octoling even if she pleaded her to not come after her. Sky's heart was pure and Opal knew it, she just never wanted to admit it because it made her feel like she was doing the wrong thing.

Opal treaded through the apartment building knowing the Octoling was behind her but too shy to say a word. She upset too many and she didn't know how to fix it so she just let it go.

By the time Opal made it outside Sky was gone. She had left to look for Opal elsewhere. Opal didn't mind, she was fine with being alone.

"You can go now." she muttered to the Octoling.

"Y-Yes! I might as well get going!" the Octoling quickly responded feeling fear.

As the Octoling began to walk off Opal stopped her for a second to say a few words.

"S-Sorry. And, thank you..." she said as she felt weak and exhausted.

The Octoling felt warm knowing that Opal didn't mean to act out in front of her and scare her. The Octoling quickly ran off smiling as she went to find Sky. Opal felt embarrassed and ashamed of herself and what she did. She hurt many and she couldn't fix that...
