I sigh and take another hit of my cigarette. I didn't like the Luna. Veronica, I think. She had a nasty attitude and she didn't like werewolves. She could never understand and appreciate how good James is. He may be harsh and all, but he is an Alpha so he has to be. I take another hit of my cigarette as she  came out of the house.
She looked at me.
" oh hi." She said sheepishly. She looked a little frazzled. )I nodded st her and she took a seat on the porch next to me.
"Can I get one of those?" She nodded at my cigarette and I shrugged, then passed her one. She lit it with the lighter and took a big inhale. I softened a little towards her. Those big inhales were normally cause you were going through something. She flipped her hair back and looked at me and said something, but I wasn't paying attention because I was staring at the bruise on her neck. And It wasn't just any bruise, it was a Mark. His mark.
"Ashleign?" She called me out of the trance.
"Yeah?" I took another hit of my cigarette.
"I am sorry for what I said the first day here. This past month has been amazing you guys have been so welcoming and I could'nt ask for a better mate then James."
I softened
"I'm glad you feel that way cause I was going to steal him from you." I giggled. I said it tactfully to see what would happen and as I expected her eyes flashed yellow for a split second, then went back to their light green.
"Yeah. I didn't know how I felt about it at first, but he has grown on me." She admitted, exhaling her smoke. I nodded in understanding. Now she was a monster, just like us.
John came stumbling out of the house, laughing drunkenly. He looked at her and sat down with his arm around her and said loudley
" so you got some good great ow ow oowww last night."she howled the last oww and doubled over in laughter, falling and rolling on the grass. Veronica blushed furiously. My eyes widened and John comtinued on
" You were so loud the whole pack heard you." He laughed harder then straight faced " Mark Me Alpha." He moaned, then howled in laughter.  Veronica turned beet red and covered her face. I laughed at John and then picked him up with my werewolf strength and carried him to the lake. I heard Veronica trailing behing me.
  When I got to the lake I threw a drunk john into the cold lake to sober him up. His head popped up from the water and he sputtered.
"What the fuck?" He yelled at me. Veronica laughed as John pulled me into the water. I punched him in the nose, not hard enough to break it, but to do a little damage. As I was getting out of the lake I cought a delicious scent in the wind. It was a woodsy smell, and it reminded me of home. I followed that scent, my wolf prancing in my head.
There was a beautiful man. He had russet colored hair, and cobalt blue eyes. He wasn't human tho, judgeing by his walk. It was too graceful to be human, which must have meant he was a vampire. He sniffed the air and our eyes locked. Everything seemed right and there was only him.
"Mate." I growled and he stopped and stood still, almost like a statue except for his light breathing. I ran over to him and jumped in his arms. He caught me, looking shell shocked, then wrapped me in a tight hug.
"Hello love." He said in a lilting Irish accent. I all but mealted into jelly as I pressed my mouth to him, and he feverishley returned the kiss. I have fineally found my mate! Yesss!!!
After a few minutes I pulled away.
" What is your name?" I aksed breathily, running my hand through his hair. It was so silky and soft.
"Zeke. And you?" I smiled at his accent.
"Ashleign." He nodded and was about to kiss me, put pulled away as I heard two people coming through the forest.
John gasped and Veronica looked stunned.
"Why are you cuddled up to a vampire."John snarled and stalked toward Zeke
"No! He is my mate." I snarled and crouched ready to attacked John.
" Bullshit. No one has ever been mated to a vampire." He growled.
" If a wolf can be mated to a human why can't one be mated to a vampire." Veronica placed herself firmly in the middle of us so neither one of us could attack the other without attacking her, and attacking a Luna, even on accident, Is punishable by death. I fealt Zeke put a hand on my shoulder and I relaxed slightly, still crouching.
"It has never happened before." John said, stomping away.
"I am going to tell James." John said as he stomped off back towards the pack house.
Veronica looked at me.
"Is this really your mate?"
I nodded and mind linked her, showing her.
She grinned and hugged me.
" Congrats."
I hugged her back and she pulled away looking very serious.
" James will not like this at all. Especially not with the attacks going on by vampires. Do you have anything to do with that." She eyed Zeke critically.
"I have a deep respect for werewolves, Luna. They saved me as a kid. I would do anything to protect them." He said wrapping a possessive arm around me. I leaned into him, enjoying the woodsy scent.
"Would you go so far as to betray your own kind to help us with the attacks?"
"The vampires are not my kin. I have no loyalty towards them. They are vile, selfish, and no good at all.  I will do anything to protect my mate and this pack." Veronica looked unsure for a minute, then fineally spoke up.
"Well in that case we might be able to work something out. Mates are very important."
I sigh in realiefe and hugged her tight.
"Thank you soo much. You do not know how long I have waited to meet my mate. I was losing hope. But now i have found him." I sighed happily, pulling back and hugging my mate.
She sighed.
"Ok well let's go back to the pack house. We must tell James about everything. He won't be happy but he will listen to me." she said, and we all walked back to the pack house, dreading how much anger James would have. I grabbed my mate's hand and he gave it a reassuring squeeze. I woud forever be grateful to Veronica. Maybe she wasn't so bad after all.
