Chapter 5

"What's taking him so Long?"

Marinette paced across the room, chewing on her cuticles.

"Gosh, girl, chillax a bit, he's probably figuring a way out of his prison of a house," Alya reassured, as she watched her Friend get more and more frustrated.

"Ahhh! I can't! Do you know how shocking this is to me? That Adrien might be Chat Noir? THIS ISN'T OKAY. I KISSED CHAT NOIR. I KISSED HIM. I KISSED HIM."

"Again, may I remind you that's this may not be true?" Nino piqued up, clutching his sore side.

Marinette frowned in frustration, then gave a weird high pitch whine, like she was a train letting off steam.

"Marinette, we just have to wait 'till Adrien gets here. Before that, no one can actually know for sure if he is Chat."

Thoughts were circling through Marinette's mind, possibilities, wonders, and even hopes.

Will he still like me as Marinette?

If it really is him, will I be Glad?

Oh Gosh, was it really Adrien by my side, flirting with me all this while?

Marinette felt sick. She rubbed her temples, as if just by doing this, she could erase all her thoughts and unanswered questions.

"Wow, Adrien sure is taking his time," a voice snapped Marinette out of her reverie.

"W-what?"

Alya frowned, "We've been waiting for at least an hour. He doesn't live that far off, and he has been to your house before, so what's keeping him?"

"Have you tried calling him?" Nino asked.

"It went to voicemail. Something fishy is up. Adrien wouldn't just abandon his friends. "

Marinette's chest felt heavy. Now this? What were they going to do?

She glanced at the clock. It was nearly 8. They might as well assume he was not coming.

"Alya, I think your should go home, it's really late, and I bet both your families are worried sick. Go home, rest, your both had a long day."

Alya gave Marinette a quizzical look. "Are you sure, girl? I can stay a while more."

Marinette shook her head and gave a sad, little smile. "No, go home. I'll be fine."

Nino and Alya exchanged glances. Alya shrugged, and the trio made their way down.

"Marinette," Wayze said, calling out to the girl, before she descended to the living room.

Marinette startled. She had forgotten about the kwamiis, perhaps because they weren't making a sound as they were resting. "Yes?"

The kwamii shifted his glance from the stairs to her again, before saying, "Well, you do realise that you would have to return the miraculouses? We can't risk anymore of them being missing or in the wrong hands. Hawkmoth already has the Ladybug earrings. "

Marinette sighed. "Yes, I'll return them on the way. Don't worry. "

Wayze beamed at her. "Thank you, Marinette! Now let me go get Trixx, she seems to be very fascinated by electronics."

Wayze zoomed off, leaving Marinette to retrieve the fox and turtle miraculouses from Alya and Nino.

Marinette sighed, as she went downstairs, hearing the conversation her friends were having with her parents.
