Chapter 10

The little boy was wailing, screaming and yelling at his Mother, as others looked on with little disinterest.

Stomping his foot, as tears streaked across his face, and as his Mother juggled his baby Brother, both did not see the tiny akuma fly their way.

And they did not see it imbue the stuff toy in the boy's hands before it was too late.

Growing to a staggering size, the Mother gave a gasp and scream, as other sounds of chaos erupted from around them.

"Oh no," Chloé whispered, as she landed on one of the rooftops. "We're too late."

"Hello-" her walkie talkie gave the crackling sound of static, before Alya's worried choppy voice came in again. "Chloé.... -at happene-"

She answered, "There's an akumatised victim, south of the Eiffel Tower, I'll try to get the akuma out, but we need something to keep it in."

"Wha-" Nino's own voice faded into static, as Chloé offed the gadget. No use talking to them now, they wouldn't get anything done.

As she rolled up her imaginary sleeves and readied herself for the leap onto the now giant boy's back, Chloé didn't know that she was chasing the fight.

She was running away from it.

"Come in, Nadjah, come in!" Her supervisor's voice said in her ear.

She pressed the button at the side of her earpiece, as the wind whipped her hair around her face.

"I'm at the plaza square! South of the Eiffel Tower park! I can see Queen Bee!"

"Good," came the muffled reply. "Ask Henri for a close shot at the fight scene, and keep your report uplifting and optimistic, we need our viewers to have hope."

Nadjah nodded, then remembered that her supervisor couldn't see her. She often forget this important detail. "I got it. We are landing soon."

A beep told her that their call was over, and Nadjah readied herself for the helicopter descent.

As she stepped out of the vehicle, she gestured quickly to Henri, the cameraman.

"Take them!" She said as she hurried to compose her windswept hair.

As she fumbled with her appearance, a sudden choppy noise filled her ears. The sound of a helicopter.

She spun around, worried that their ride back was leaving so soon. It had happened once.

But the helicopter sat there, motionless except for the fact that their driver was waiting inside.

The chopping noise somehow grew louder, and Nadjah tilted her head back, using her hand to block out the sun.

It was indeed a helicopter. And it was flying over her head.

Sabine stared at the tv screen, as an ad for a car came on. What had happened?

"Tom," she started, reaching for her husband's hand. "Tom, can you call the tv station?"

She heard him fumble, but her eyes stayed glued to the screen, expecting it to show Nadjah again, or Queen Bee.

But after a while, the failing went to a Long buzz, and the ads kept playing.

Sabine sighed, and reached for the remote control. But just as she was about to turn it off, Nadjah's face reappeared, and she had a change of scenery, no longer at the TV set.
