Previously...

I've had butter for about 2 weeks now and I've doing a good job doing a good job taking care of him. That was until I lost him, I was walking him and when I stopped to pick up his poop and he got away. "Butter! Butter!" I called for him.

It's been 4 hours and it's already 9 pm I was supposed to be home at 4:30, Levi is gonna be mad. I sat on the curb and started to I cry. "Y/n!" I heard Levi call out to me.

"Levi Butter got away and I couldn't find him." He scoffed and crouched down in front of me.

"Stop crying. Let's go home and make some posters."He pet my head and I nodded following him.

He made phone calls constantly for the next 3 days. However we didn't get any news.

Random Pov

"We've found your dog, but..."

Levi's Pov

"But what!?"I yelled clearly annoyed it was a good thing Y/n was shch a heavy sleeper.

"We're sorry to tell you that you're puppy butter is extremely injured and has contracted rabies, at this moment of time we have estimated he has a few hours left. You can come say your goodbyes."The person on the phone hung up after giving me the address, so now it was time for me to tell Y/n.

"Y/n get up."I shook her and it didn't work, so I tried yelling. Still nothing, so I went downstairs grabbed an ice cube and dropped it down the back of her shirt. She began to squirm and then woke up.

"Huh Levi? It's late go to sleep."She tried to lay back down, but I turned on the light.

"No...This is important."She sat up and rubbed her eyes, they were red. She had been crying.

"Wait are you waking me up because they found Butter! Let's go pick him u-"I got so frustrated with myself.

"We can't go pick him up, but we can go see him."I avoided eye contact.

"Why can't we go and bring him home?"She asked confused. "What happened."She looked up with me her usually fiery e/c eyes were soft as she stared up at me.

"Butter is very sick and very hurt, I'm sorry. Butter is going to die, do you still want to see him?"I asked and she smiled as her eyes got glossy, but she didn't cry.

"Yeah! Yeah..let's go and have fun with him, before it's too late."She smiled and we got ready and left.

We walked into the pet hospital and entered a room, there was a giant crate where Butter could run free in his last hours. "Hi Butter, you were a good dog and you got rid of that boy. So I'll miss you soldier."I smiled and looked over at Y/n.

"Butter...It's me Y/n I brought you your favorite snack. I'm sorry I wasn't a good enough owner for you. I promise that if I ever get another pet I'll be more mature. I love you Butter."With that she took off his collar and we left the room.

We were on our way home since Butter had been put down. "Levi, why does everyone I love leave me?" She asked.

"You don't love me, or the guys down at the station?" I asked.

"Of course I do, but you already tried to leave me!" She yelled defensively as we pulled into the driveway. I unbuckled my seatbelt and she flinched as I leant in.

"Listen, you can trust me. I'm not going anywhere. Besides since you love me so much how could I leave brat?"I hugged her and she hugged back, but then tried to push me away.

"I do trust you and you better mean that! Who said I love you that much? You're just my slave, now get off weirdo or I'll bite you." I sighed and unbuckled her seatbekt. I picked her up and brought her inside.

"It's okay to cry."I put her down. She nodded.

"I know, it's just that's not what Butter would have wanted."With that she went upstairs.
