Law's POV

I was going to die.

I had consumed all my stamina. I was beaten and exhausted. I had lost hold of Kikoku. And nobody would come to my rescue. They had their own problems.

I'm not even sure how this happened. Everything occurred just too fast. My crew, the Strawhats and I had disembarked at an uninhabited island. Or so we had thought.

Marines. Thousands of them. Normally, this wouldn't be much of a problem, but they had set an ambush for us. And they were surprisingly strong.

I knew the rest were doing well, though. At least they were the last time I saw them. The man I was fighting with had used some type of drug on me and my devil fruit powers didn't work as they should, which had ended on me somehow teleporting us both away from the main battle. I had tried removing the drug from my system using my devil fruit, but again, it didn't do what I wanted, and I ended hurting myself.

So here I was. Drugged, worn out and unarmed. Facing a man whose eyes screamed hate and death.

I managed to dodge a fatal attack, as my opponent tried to slash my neck with his sword. I turned in alarm as one of my feet stepped into nothing, almost making me fall into what seemed to be a lake, some meters below from where we were. My sight was becoming blurry though, it could have been a river or the sea as well.

I looked back at my opponent as he arrogantly stood in front of me, knowing he had corralled me. I sent him a defiant glare, smirking smugly. Maybe I was going to die, but I wouldn't show the slightest sign of weakness.

I still had enough sight to distinguish an angered frown caused by my cockiness forming on his face as he ended me with a last stab. I felt a cold, sharp pain in my stomach as the sword pierced me, but I just widened my smirk as I fell backwards, down to the lake.

The sword painfully left my body as my killer pulled it out before I fell. Moments later, my body splashed into the cold water, and I drowned in the dark lake, the water draining the little energy that I might have had left.

I was dying, and I didn't care.

I wasn't scared of death. And I didn't really have much to do now that I had avenged Cora-san. Revenge was my only goal. Once I reached it, I lost my reason for living. Truth be told, death sounded kind of comforting to me. I had my crew and even my allies, but I felt empty anyways.

My last thought before losing consciousness and letting death embrace me was for them, though. I really hoped they were fine. I hoped nobody else shared my fate. I felt sorry for leaving them like this. But I wasn't worried. They could take care of themselves.

"Toraoooooo! Toraoooooo!"

I heard Strawhat-ya's voice calling me from very far away. He always had to use that stupid name.

But it was too late. I was sunken deeply in the lake by then, and I doubted he would find me anytime soon. My body was dying.

My heart stopped.

Author's note: This fanfiction currently has 126 chapters already written, so I'll probably update often until I reach the chapter I'm writing now.
