Fifth of January.
Tonight was finally the night when the Three Kings would 'visit'. You were super excited about it, but you also were sad tomorrow was the last day of Christmas. It passed so fast...
However, you didn't have much time to think about that. You just got a call and had to leave so, as soon as you hung up, you got ready to go out and headed to Law's room, where he was finishing his homework.
You were so focused on what you had to do that you forgot to knock on the door and directly opened it. "Law, I need to-," you started, but fell silent in bafflement when he jumped on his chair and brusquely closed his laptop, turning to you with the shock written all over his startled face as his wide eyes frenetically studied your features in search of something that revealed you knew what he was doing. He was so stressed out he couldn't even find words to protest or composure to pretend.
For some long seconds, you just watched each other in awkward silence.
"Were you watching porn?" you suddenly blurted out.
He seemed to consider it for a moment, apparently unaffected. "Yes," he finally responded with a calm, emotionless voice, stoned-faced now.
You sweatdropped. He admitted it so naturally that it made you doubt if it was actually true, even though his reaction told you that was exactly what he had been doing. You had caught him reading fanfictions several times before, and even though he used to hide the window if he noticed, he never reacted so jumpy, so you were positive it wasn't the case.
Your lips curled in slight amusement. "Looking for ideas?"
He shrugged.
You took a look at the laptop, noticing that, even though he was apparently calm now, he kept a hand on top of it, as if wanting to make sure it wouldn't open. "If you get it infected I won't fix it."
"Fine," he carelessly accepted.
More silence.
"Eh..." You struggled to remember why you entered in the first place. "I need to leave for a while, there are some things I forgot to tell you to buy this morning."
Law frowned. You had been leaving the house frequently the past days, and you always did when he was busy doing something else, or had an excuse ready so he wouldn't join. He was sure you did it on purpose, he was sure you were lying about where you went, and he was sure you were hiding something. In fact, he had no doubt you had taken the chance to go out this morning too, while he was grocery shopping. However, all he did was feign ignorance, partially hoping the issue would go away on its own, partially too scared of the truth, partially refusing to believe you were capable of betraying him so blatantly.
"If you give me a minute I can go with you," he offered, hoping you would accept.
You smiled. "No, no, it's okay. I'll be back in time to go to The Three Kings Day Parade*. Just keep studying or... Whatever you were doing..."
Cold disappointment imprisoned his chest. He couldn't understand why would you keep lying to him. You knew how much it hurt him.
He could insist and make you confess, but that was a card he didn't want to use so, as he had been doing the past days, he simply let it go. His eyes dropped to the floor in bitterness. "Fine." He turned his back to you, wanting to hide his face. "Don't take too long."
He heard you walking towards him and tensed again, turning to look at you in slight alarm he concealed. But you just caressed his hair and kissed his temple.
