My body feels weird
It feels heavy
Too heavy
I can't move
I can't even open my eyes
I try with everything I have
My eyes just need to open
Open
The light is so blinding it's painful
I can't see
Everything is so cloudy
My head feels full
I'm in a hospital
I'm finally free
Tears stream down my face
I'm thirsty
I'm thirsty!
I'm human again
Jarring beeping startles me
My heart rate monitor
Nurses come flooding in
People
Actual people
I start crying all over again
I smile
I can't believe I'm free
"Annie Wheelhouse, you're gonna be okay"
An older nurse says
I stare into her eyes
Kind eyes
I'm safe
After they get me calmed down
I hug each and every one of them
It feels good to touch another person
It feels wonderful
I still don't remember much
But that can wait
