"Thanks for the invite. You picked a good morning." I told him, sitting on the blanket I laid out.

"I wanted to enjoy things. I don't know how everything is going to go today and it scares me." Justin admits, avoiding eye contact with me.

"I'm proud of you, Justin. I know we haven't really been friends for long but I've seen you do a 180. You don't deserve what's happening to you. But you've come so far. And no matter what happens, you've got me, Clay, Alex, Zach and the rest of them. I promise you that."

"You mean that?"

"100%. No matter what happens, we got you." I took a sip of my drink and continued. "What scares you the most about today?"

"I think Bryce getting off the hook. I don't care what happens to me. I would hate for him to be walking around like nothing happened." Justin sighed. "But we all know that's whats gonna happen."

I didn't even know how to answer that. Justin was right. Bryce had fancy lawyers and what not. If Bryce were to kill someone, they'd find a way to get him out of it. It wasn't right.

"Did you ever talk to Sheri?" He asked me.

I scoffed. "After thinking about, I think it's best if I don't." I muttered, picking at my nails.

"Why not?"

"I know myself and I know that I would explode on her about it. The more I think about the situation, the more irritated it makes me."

"What do you mean?"

"All I'm saying is that I think my parents would rather have me home after curfew after I called to report a stop sign, instead of being home on time and constantly thinking about that corner intersection. Yeah, sure, she would've been in trouble, but at least Jeff would still be here." I exhaled, watching the ocean. "I miss him."
