chapter 2: writing plots that will frustrate your readers

CHARACTER DEATH

•killing your character while he/she is experiencing joy/happiness

•make your character die a slow and painful death and make it in such a way that they physically cannot seek help.

•have other characters think that the character who died trying to save them, betrayed them somehow so that they don't mourn him or so that they don't have anything nice to say about his death.

•right before they die, show their most vulnerable side to the reader like; who they loved most, their fears, their joys, what they wished they would've done differently. ( trust me, this'll leave your readers in a mess of emotions )

•have them be the only person who knows an important secret or detail that'll change everything happening in the story in a big way

•have your reader's favorite character be the one behind their killing

THEN

•reveal the truth once it's too late and the killer has gotten away
•have a cowardly character know the truth but be too scared to tell anyone
•give the cowardly friend some kind of amnesia so that they forget that their friend is a traitor, only to remember when it's too late.

DEATHS BETWEEN PARTNERS

•have one partner hold their other partner's dead/unconscious body

•have one partner sob into their dead/dying partners shoulder/chest

•have one partner lose their mind when their partner is hurt/killed in a fight/battle

•'i thought I lost you' hugs

•'don't go where I can't follow'

•one is mind controlled and is forced to fight the other.

•the other one refusing to fight/hurt them and gets injured by their partner in the process

•the mind-controlled one coming back to their senses to see the damage they've caused

•A last desperate 'i love you

•A hard passionate kiss before battle. Extra points if it's a confessional kiss of love

•'please. I don't know what I'd do without you' -to their dying partner

•both of them injured, waking up beside each other

•both of them, injured and watching each other dying.

•one is dying and the other one drags himself towards his dying partner, but can't reach them in time.

•'stay with me' says the less injured one to the dying one but passes out, leaving their partner alone in the last moments of death.

•having to kill their terribly injured partner so that they don't suffer too much
