"WHAT!" Cass screeches in my ears. I slap her forehead with my free hand before taking a sip of my coffee. How come when people say "Hey don't look, I'm changing!" they automatically look? Or when you say "Hey when I tell you about me and Michael, and how we almost kissed, don't scream?" and then they scream! Cassidy.
"Ow jeez your slaps kill," Cass whimpers as she rubs her forehead.
"Well that's what you get for being stupid," I explain, as we walk down the same dull hallways filled with screaming horny teenagers.
"Oh my god you guys almost kissed," Cass repeats to herself, quietly, smiling in awe. I see a huge whiten smile light up and her eyes bulging out, oh dear god.
"Hey," I snap my fingers, stopping us, trying to snap her out of her trance, "None of that."
"None of what?" she gasps.
"None of that face," I twirl my finger around, "No no, no big huge smile, and ginormous eyes because it will never happen, you hear me?"
Her eyes reach for the sky and she shakes her head, "Oh whatever, you're such a sour puss, you never want to take a chance! Go for what you want!"
I scoff, a little offended that she really just said that. I continue down the stairs, "Am not!"
She doesn't reply, she just shrugs her shoulders.
"I go for what I want when its worth it, and trust me, Michael? Ha he ain't worth it." I explain, I twirl around before entering my classroom, Cass with that sassy mad look she gets when I'm being too serious about everything.
"I don't like him, he doesn't like me, end of discussion."
"Mhm, whatever," she shrugs off her shoulders, "Are you hanging out with him soon?"
My eyes automatically fall to the ground in guilt. Shit. Cass's face lights up and starts nodding, "You're! Aren't you?"
"Maybe..." I whisper.
Cass just starts giggling while walking away screaming, "I KNEW IT!"
"HEY ITS NOTHING! WE'RE JUST HANGING OUT!" I yell back.
"Winter Hudson the bell is about to ring, please be seated." I snap my head over my shoulder to see Mrs Grumpy old fart head, Mrs. Feller already accusing me of being disruptive. I glide my way over to my desk in the back, getting my math book, pencil, and all tools I need for class.
The class bell rings, but I don't know how I can concentrate with all these unanswered questions running through my mind. My leg tingles by a vibration, obviously my cellphone. I pull it out of my pocket and secretly look at the dim screen of the text message from Michael light up on my phone.
I click open, it reads: Can't wait to see my Winty tonight!:)
A small smile is appearing on my face, as I reread the word "my.."
The butterflies that burst through my body as my heart lights up. I don't know this feeling, I don't usually let myself open, but it seems like it just did by itself. I've never felt more giddy, and happy in my life. It was like I was in a love movie, where you almost feel like its impossible for you to get that perfect relationship but you feel like you got a chance, almost.
