I'm Always the Villain

Prologue

        "Gray." a woman called from down the hall her voice vibrating against the wood walls of the small bakery.

 I slid out of one of the bakery chairs and hurried into the kitchen. in the kitchen stood a woman with dark brown hair lightly sprinkled with white tied back in a short pony tail. flour covered her apron and some of her face there was a small spark in her eyes as she smiled down at me "gray could you go see who's at the door please." she said a hint of trickery in her voice I didn't hear it.

 "sure" I said I ran to the door excited to see who it was I opened the door in time to see a little girl turn away. 

"hey" I said she turned. The girl had long brown hair a red coat and gray scarf her eyes stared at me happily as if relived to see me or that could have been my imagination. It was red the only girl I have ever had a crush on and granny knew she set me up we would talk about this later 

"hey" she said interrupting my thoughts "h hh..ey " dang i needed to pull myself together just because red looked nice didn't mean I had to start stuttering.

"I was wondering if you could hang out " she continued, smiling. oh my gosh she had a cute smile.

"sorry....." I started "he would love to red" granny said from behind me. dang where did she come from.

 "granny i have to...."I tried again "go play with red yes you do glad were on the same page" she pushed me out side and gave me my coat and boots "have fun gray. nice seeing you red" then she closed the door.

 then we were alone I was still facing the door trying hard to hide the fact that I was blushing when red started laughing from behind "w..ha..t was ..that " she said between laughs I turned and smiled and said "oh nothing " what can I say I'm a smooth talker.

 "you better get your coat and boots on it's pretty cold outside" she said with a shiver "right thanks." I sat down on the side walk and worked on putting my shoes on.

 "so what do you want to do?" she asked.

 "I don't know ....done! " I stood up

 "cool, she smiled let's play tag ....tag your it" she said as she ran. 

"hey I didn't say I wanted to play tag " I ran after her she laughed "you didn't say anything" I ran after her laughing we ran passed the tavern waving at the owner as we passed time must have pass quickly for me cause soon red disappeared though the trees "hey wait we'er not supposed to go in there.

  Red!" why wasn't coming she coming back 

"Red wait for me" I ran after her granny was going to be so mad at me she told me never to go in the woods she told me things lived in these woods things that change you things that want nothing more then to destroy i shivered I had to stop thinking about granny's stories they weren't real.

 "they aren't real" I said aloud where was red I just saw her my heart began to race

 "R....ed.. whe..re are you?" I heard quiet rustling behind me.

 I began to run I had to get out of here something was out there something was chasing me. I ran I ran as fast as I could stumbling as I went light escaped from the trees I just had to get to the light then i'd be safe.

 I ran into the bushes light flooded my seances I looked out I was in a small meadow flowers littered the ground 

a twig snapped behind me I wiped around and froze a black mass appeared from the under growth my heart raced but I couldn't move

 I locked eyes with the creature it's eyes a burning yellow it seemed to stare strait into my soul. I was scared fixed on the spot.

 "Don't hurt me please." I said voice shaking 

"please." the creature said nothing it stepped closer until we were face to face but I couldn't move I was petrified I started to shake

 The creature spoke it voice a husky whisper "take my burden"

 it exposed it teeth and growled it wiped it's head at me sinking it teeth into my neck a snap rang though the clearing and everything went dark.
