Green Grass

The grass is greener on the other side
We all stop to look at it
It's beautiful, isn't it?
The uninterrupted tranquility of it
It's amazingly even height.
Someone must really care for it

Or maybe it's just fake
A show to convince friends
Made to keep us from worrying
And him from working
But we're jealous anyways
Even if it's fake.

We want what we can't have
We want what no one has
We want to be happy eternally
We want to live forever in bliss
We want to die
We want to try
But we don't

We don't try to change
We don't tend to the grass
It's not green
It's brown
And patchy
And dying.

But we can always fix it
We can always buy some fake grass
And keep it under wraps
Keep our struggle hidden
Our pain away
Our sadness buried
Our happiness fake
Our smiles forced
Our life a lie

But it's beautiful to be genuine too
It's beautiful to cry
To hurt
To struggle
It's the beauty of humanity
We beautifully struggle
In an attempt to be happy
And keep the grass green.
