I couldn't believe what I was seeing. On my wrist, I could see the snake tattoo from my weird dream. It wasn't as clear and dark as that one, but it clearly had the same shape. Now, instead of sharp black lines, the snake and skull were made out of purple and green bruises. I felt like puking, when suddenly, I heard the door to my room open.

Two blue eyes were staring in mine. Those eyes were the first things I noticed, then the blond hair, straight nose, and her small mouth.  'Brittany.'

'Yes Santana,' she said with a soft smile 'I had to visit you.'

Let's keep the snake thing to myself for now.

The thought of her having to see me, made me glow inside. 'Why?' I couldn't imagine her being affected to me in any way.

'Because you checked in on me, remember? After poison class?'

I nodded. How could I forget? She continued talking. 'Plus, we'll be spending a lot of time together this year, so I want us to be friends.' Even though that sounded great, I didn't understand her. She noticed my confusion. 'You haven't heard yet? I'm Ravenclaw's new head cheerleader!' Her face got a proud smile when she said it. 'Wow, congratulations, that's amazing!  But... I still don't understand,' I said, 'What do I have to do with that?' Brittany now got a very confused look on her face. Shocked almost. 'No one told you? Didn't Quinn visit you today?'

'Yeah she did,' I said nodding 'What's going on? What is there that she should've told?' I could see Brittany considering whether she should tell or not. Then her eyes got a certain confidence, and she spoke. 'You're Slytherin's new head cheerleader.' I quietly gasped, but Brittany continued talking. 'I'm not sure why Quinn didn't tell you this, but rumour has it she's pretty jealous. There's also a rumour Choo might  be 2 dwarves in a human costume, but that's a whole other story.' Normally her sweet attempt at cheering me up would've made me laugh, but now I was too tired and confused to do so. Therefore, I simply nodded. 'I'll ask her about it. Thanks for telling me.' Brittany was suddenly looking kinda nervous. 'Yeah no problem. Get better soon.' And as she walked out of the room, I followed her with my eyes, and admired her beautiful walk.

Brittany's pov:

'Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid,' I kept whispering while I walked down the hallway. Everything was going so well. I was kinda bonding with Santana, and then my nerves took over, and made me make that stupid, stupid, stupid joke. Two dwarfs in a human costume. It'd happened again. As soon as I got nervous, I made lame, unfunny jokes. And damn, did Santana make me nervous. If she didn't think I'm weird as hell already, she sure does now.

I had to get away from it all. I walked up the endless stairs, not sure where they'd take me, since they were always moving around. Eventually, it brought me to the roof, where the owls could stay during the school year. I usually never got here, since I only owned a cat.

From the balcony, I watched the beautiful view for a while. Then, I went inside the little stable. I'd always thought owls were cool. The pretty birds looked at me curiously, for as far as owls are able to have facial expressions. I looked back at them, same expression. They weren't exactly impressed, so went back to the balcony.

I looked around me for a few more minutes. Then, in a flash, it seemed like I saw a shadow, somewhere far away, on another rooftop. It disappeared just as fast as it appeared, but I was sure there was something, or someone, staring at me.

A shiver went down my spine, and I got back inside the castle as quick as I could.

Santana's pov:

'Quinn! Hold up!'

As the popular blond turned around, her army of less popular Slytherin cheerleaders followed her example.

The hallway was completely empty, except for our little group. Probably because we always got away with skipping. Especially when the class was lead by a male teacher.

Quinn's face cleared up when she recognised me. 'Santana!' she spoke enthusiastically, 'you're ba-', but I wouldn't let her continue.

'Don't you 'Santana-you're-back' me!' I said, while imitating her. 'Why didn't you tell me I was the new head cheerleader?'

Quinn's lips turned into a horizontal thin stripe. Then she got back into her role of worried friend.

'You were sick. I didn't want to give you anymore worries.' I was impressed by her acting skills.

'You and I both know, how much that would've cheered me up! Admit it, Miss Fabray,' I said those last two words with all the sarcasm in my body, 'you were jealous. You've always been jealous of me.'

While Quinn and I were having our little chat, the other cheerleaders had been listening quietly, obviously shocked by the situation. They seemed so brainless, always following the most popular girls. I turned myself in their direction.

'And you? Why did you keep this a secret?'

The girls all avoided making eye contact. 'Santana...' Quinn sounded tired, slightly hurt. 'I was protecting you. You know who's Ravenclaw's new head cheerleader?' I knew what she was gonna say, and it made my cheeks turn red. 'That loser, that thing.'

'Brittany,' I spoke calmly, like speaking to a little kid, 'her name is Brittany.'

Quinn's eyes expressed more anger than any words could ever have. I knew if I kept going now, I could make a good strike. I acted like I was done, and walked away, only to turn back around after a few steps. I got a vicious smile on my face.

'Oh and for the record, Brittany is a better cheerleader, dancer and better looking than you ever have been, or will be.'

Some of the girls around us gasped, others  secretly giggled behind their hand. Both were exactly the reactions I was going for. With a fake, super sweet smile, I looked at her one last time, and then really walked away.
